Say if we are going to have a Memorial Day in honor of you, what would it be about?

I think it would be more about the people celebrating then it would be about me.

Which is awesome. In some sort of unseeable way I have impacted lives and made changes as they have changed me. Their prescence is a reflection of that change.

Their celebration in my honor would be an interpretation of me. Which would all vary a bit.

But I would hope there would be story telling laughter and music. Throw in some Mitch Hedberg(risen from heroin hallway) or Doug Stanhope… I would be golden .. And of course it would have to be outside.

But to answer the question I suppose they would celebrate my capacity to listen to and get along with most people, and that I’ll laugh at most jokes.

They would celebrate my willingness to try to fix anything that once was operational but quit working – and that I often succeeded.

They would celebrate my imagination and creative curiosity (the dabbling…). My latest successes are mostly ephemeral, I make toys for the parrot to destroy.

Everyone would have to not eat meat for a whole day and we would have to treat earth and all its living inhabitants with kindness just for one day. So that would mean all pollutants would stop. It would be a giant massive world global earth day celebration.

Every year on Lori Day, people would be kind and polite, and nobody would inflict harm on any living creature. The farm factories, slaughterhouses, and fisheries would shut down, and everyone would eat a vegan diet. Every war would have a cease-fire.

Everyone would be required to provide me with unlimited jalapeno poppers. I would go door to door and collect them.

Hmm…they would, perhaps, celebrate my pluckiness. They could do this by being kind to one another and planting a tree. Oh, and making me Potato/Kale Enchiladas….followed by ceremonial dancing.

They would do a good deed and “play it forward” without accolades.

My ability to consume a great deal of alcohol and bbq.

To have a Memorial Day honoring me, I would have to be…...dead.

So, respectfully, I think I’ll pass…..

It would be a day to embrace self-loathing, so everyone would have to do the stuff they hate.
For me, it is going to the dentist and weeding.
