What is the best graphics card or GPU that you can get now days?

Asked by poisonedantidote (21680points) May 30th, 2013

I am going to be building a gaming PC, because I don’t really want to invest in the next generation of consoles.

So I was wondering, what is the best, or in your opinion, one of the best graphics processors you can get?

How much does it cost more or less?

nVidia GTX Titan in a triple SLI setup. That will cost you 1000$ per card.

@ragingloli Thanks, I was just looking at nvidia a while ago, they do seem good. I am a little out of touch, it has been about 5 or 6 years since I had a good gaming PC.

The most expensive one, basically.

That said, I’m a Nvidia guy too. Look at your budget, make sure you’re not bottlenecking your CPU, and grab a 660Ti or above, and you’ll be fine.

I have a Radeon 7870 and honestly I’ve yet to come across a single game that I couldn’t run everything completely maxed out. It only ended up running me around $200.

@uberbatman – at what resolution?

Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand would push it at ultra 1920×1080.

For something a bit cheaper than the Titan, the GTX770 will (when it comes out) probably set you back about $600.

I am currently using a used gtx580. Can handle just about anything, but it gets quite loud under load.

@the100thmonkey 1920×1080, I haven’t played battlefield 3 yet but I’ll check it out soon and let ya know how it handles it.

This site has a list that ranks top end video cards and is updated daily. My card ranks 16th on the list. Not bad IMO when considering the price.
