For me, it’s probably a toss between Ferrero Rocher and Lindt Milk Chocolate.

Galaxy has got to be the best and milk choc all the way. So very creamy and yuuuuummmm…..
I second the Ferrero Rocher.
I don’t think I’ll ever find a better chocolate.
@ Eambos – for a long time, ferrero rocher used to be my only love. then, (very recently) i got handed 10 boxes of ferrero rocher as gifts (everyone is aware of my love for it). i have habit of starting to dislike things if i have too much of it. which is why, i am trying to switch it up by eating a few rochers and a few lindts so i can retain my love for the two!
Unfortunately, I don’t know the name of it. I bought a bar in the Port of Rotterdam that was made somewhere in the area. It was absolutely the best chocolate that I have ever had. Also had some Cadbury Roses when leaving Heathrow last year, but found those locally last week (at a premium price and it was too hot outside to buy them).
Ooh, Cant forget Ghirridelli (horrible spelling correct me please)
Very smooth and tasteful.
I not a chocolate connoisseur, so if you wish to make something chocolate for me, make the chocolate dark and semi-sweet.
Xocai makes the best chocolate. What’s great about it is that it’s healthy. Yup, healthy!
It’s got blueberries and the superfood acai berries in it. And they don’t use high-heat to process the chocolate. No artificial crap. It’s good. Oh, and last thing: rather than the normal sugar high and crash, Xocai’s chocolate gives me an even, steady buzz of energy.
@Eambos: Ghirardelli (good attempt, though, we all knew what you meant). Yes, my favorite domestic. Their chips are the best for cookies, too.
1. Fran’s Gold Bar from Seattle…YUMMY! I dream about them!
2. Violet Crumble from Austraila (but not only for the chocolate but the crIspy, golden honeycomb contents inside)
Violet Crumble yummy! But I love a good dark chocolate, especially chocolate with odd additions, like chili or ginger. Scharfenburger (sp?) is good.
Ghiradelli 60% Cacao.
Now, if you’re talking about “assorted chocolates” then you have to go with See’s Candies, which those of you on the east coast miss out on.
Valrhona still makes the best overall range of dark chocolates in the world, but there are a few individual chocolates from other manufacturers that are also in that league. Chocovic’s “Ocumare” is an outstanding example of Venezuelan Criollo cacao. Divine Chocolate is a fair trade chocolate well-crafted from Ghanan beans (some of the best Forastero cacao in the world). Chocolaterie de l’Opera in France makes superb chocolate, but good luck getting it in the States. Ditto for Cluizel, another French firm. There are no American chocolate makers yet that approach this quality level, but Guittard is trying hard, and may yet succeed. Some foodies like Scharffen Berger, but I find it way too acid (not enough conche time).
For milk chocolate, it’s hard to beat the Belgians. Callebaut makes several very good ones.
The French chocolate that I love is Pralus. I have recently found Vere chocolates from New York. They are organic and do not have too much sugar.
milk chocolate dove.
yummy.
i think of myself as quite the chocolate connoisseur, but I haven’t heard of some of the names listed. must try them immediately! thanks to everyone who participated in this thread so far :)
Ghirardelli milk chocolate is my favorite.
OMG!!!! This is an amazing question! I’m the biggest chocolate fanatic ever! I ADORE cadbury milk chocolate, ghirardelli 72% dark chocolate w/ caramel filling, & harry & david’s dark chocolate coffee truffles….. YUM!!!!!
@ Sloane – always a pleasure to meet another chocolate fanatic :)
I love chocolate and peanut butter.
Dark chocolate is growing on me more. The Ghiradelli squares are yummy. The dark chocolate/raspberry or dark chocolate/mint. The square is just enough to satisfy my craving.
I’m with jstringham and Knotmyday on this one – plain Hershey’s milk chocolate is my favorite. I love to get just a plain bar and break it into those little rectangles. It’s so good if you let it melt over warm popcorn. Ooh, I think I want some chocolate and popcorn now.
Lindt milk chocolate with whole hazelnuts or Rittersport with whole hazelnuts. Yum.
I’m a bit of a chocolate snob, so I won’t go to lengths about how the word Hershey’s makes me cringe, but I will just say that a Green & Black’s Maya Gold bar really tickles my fancy.
@ ezra – ditto. when i read the answers about “Hersheys”, i was shocked. Hershey’s is so everyday/ordinary, IMO. Frankly, I don’t really like Hershey’s chocolate bars, the kisses are okay.
Lindt White and Dark chocolate. Don’t care for milk chocolate too much.
@Allie Get your chocolate out of my cheese popcorn! :)
A Croatian chocolate called Bajadera, by Kras. Also Milka. Dove is a good common one, but I’m not a huge Lindt fan. Ghirardelli squares are very good. And Ferrero Rocher, of course.
Marina: But it’s so good!!!!!
Edit: Wait a sec, did you say cheese popcorn. Nah uh, it’s all about regular butter (none of that movie style crap either).
I agree with all the dark chocolate lovers, definately my favorite plain chocolate. How about Toblerone??? Makes the best chocolate fondue ever.
bead: yes i echo Toblerone!
Everyone is so chocolate sophisticated here. I’ll go with “Le” Kit Kat (white chocolate), Resees Peanut Butter cups, Almond Joy, Hersheys Hugs, Dove.
Just my opinion but as far as “Godiva” is concerned, I rather eat the $10 dollar bill I’d have to spend on one little piece there. Its all name.
Milka is delicious and cheap and European.
Flake is also really good, but it’s hard to find here. I have a box that someone brought me from overseas.
oh yeah!!! Toblerone is amazing. If you are a fine chocolate conessieur (sp?), I highly recommend and implore you to try some of Harry and David’s truffles… For lack of a better clichè-they are to die for… :)
@ Sloane – okay, i will keep a look out for the truffles. thanks for the tip!
