The color for blue jeans is indigo dye.
Don’t know about khaki’s.
Apparently the original dye used for khakis came from the Mazari Palm
I’m asking about dyes being used in mass production today.
^^^Tropical Willie answered your question if you had bothered to read his link. Indigo dye used today is a synthetic.
@gailcalled I think my comfort here might have made me slip into discourtesy on my last entry. If you will imagine that, for me, I ask here like I am among such learned minds, with such thirst for knowledge, that if I ask, there will be a race to help me. And in my part, I don’t view this “race” as some entitlement of mine. Rather I am SO grateful that there, in this world, are other knowledge seekers, anywhere, willing to help me seek the same object.
Help here has been so effective that I have forgotten my manners, and now by simply reiterating my idea so informally, drawing just such a small touch of your ire as to imbue me with all this regard. Even in your ire, your answer still tends to want to prove that I am right about what I think about you, and the other regular jellies, when you do not hold back the help I seek, but instead point me to it all the more emphatically.
I hope you do not misconstrue my tone, for disrespect, or even impatience, in that last post. My own lazyness of thought, failure of critical review, and lack of thoroughness managed to design your disdain.
ok?
I wonder what makes all that tan color, some synthetic dye surely, but which, and by whom?
I know indigo is for jeans, but I’m having trouble finding information on the modern dye used for khakis.
I don’t know where it came from but I thought khaki had something to do with tea leaves. British soldiers in India and all that??? Even if that is not factual and just a figment of my imagination, it sounds plausible! I have in the past used tea for dying and it does come out a khaki sort of color.
But as for today’s khaki, I don’t have a clue!
