What should I write in my resume to apply at TCBY?
This will be my first job if I get it, and I have no prior experience in both work fields and writing resumes. I walk a dog for someone in my apartment building and could probably use them as reference.
How should I word things? I’ve been told to emphasize on things like “good team player but can also work independently” and such.
I’m 16 years old, as well.
Thanks for any help!
EDIT: also they do not have any applications for some reason, and they told me to just bring in a resume instead.

OK Summarize your skills. Can you use a computer? What about office programs? Have you ever used a cash register?
The put your Work Experience as a dog walker. Say that it taught you to be on time, keep a schedule, budget your time wisely, etc.
Then put where you are in school and what you are studying (such as College Prep).
@marinelife I’m quite proficient with computers, and I’ve never used a cash register before, but I feel like I could learn quickly. I’ll add that in :-)
Thanks again!!
In addition to what @marinelife said, school accomplishments (good grades, AP classes, high GPA, clubs and groups, etc.) and volunteer work are good.
What all of the above listed but also mention some softer skills like strong work ethic, mature, responsible, highly organized, detail-oriented, strong customer service standards, excellent communication skills and a fast learner. That should help!
Welcome to Fluther! I applaud your research ahead of the process, and your writing skills are excellent. Extol the virtues of same.
I’m guessing a focus on customer service would be highly regarded in this type of environment.
Good luck!
Welcome to fluther.
It sounds like you have it well under control. Let us know if you get the job!
Gosh, does everyone except me recognize what TCBY is? Someone please enlighten me.
I think you have a lot of good suggestions here. May I add, for you interview, don’t chew gun or wear sexy clothes.
A place like TCBY asking for a resume instead of an application seems very odd to me. That’s a typical first job. I didn’t need a resume until I graduated from high school and actually had something to put on there.
Thanks everyone for the help and compliments! I ended up only finishing half of my resume before school began to kick my butt!! I also went in and asked if they were still hiring not too long ago, and the manager said he’d filled all the positions available. So for now, I’ll just have to wait for this job.
Thanks again!
