I’m a HUGE hockey fan.
My question is, who do you think will make it to the finals?
Me: Bruins and Blackhawks.
Who do you think will win the cup?
Me: Bruins
Most important! Who is your favorite team?
Me: the Red Wings!!!!!
Which team(s) do you hate?
Me: the Penguins. I have some pretty strong hate for Cindy Crysby and Company.
That being said….. I think an original 6 matchup in the finals will be a lot of fun. Go Bruins!!

I started watching hockey a few weeks ago.
I’m a Rangers fan. Bruins are definitely going to the finals and probably going to win the cup, but I’ll root for anyone facing the Bruins (except the penguins). As much as I dislike the Bruins (nothing personal, just ny vs boston rivalry), I hate the caps even more.
Fight fight fight, is all I see in Hockey.
<—— Yes. And as much as I’m not a huge Bruins fan, they’re still who I want to see win the Cup.
@flo – Then you’re not watching much hockey if that’s all you see. The league has cut way down on how much of that happens.
OMG! So, it must have been horror show before, if this is the improved version? It is barbaric the way it is now.
By the way what good are those protective things that they wear, if they are suffering concussions?
Here is something from February 2013.
I was predicting Bruins / ‘Hawks right at the beginning of the playoffs. I didn’t want to see it since I would rather watch the Bruins crash and burn, but they are good. Still think the ‘Hawks can win it all though.
I’m a Sabres fan. I hate every other Eastern Conference team to varying degrees, with extreme passionate hate for Boston and Philly. I’m okay with most of the Western Conference, but I will always have a bit more hate for Dallas than the rest of the teams in that Conference.
I’m only grouping the teams by current Conferences because I haven’t learned the new Conferences yet. I hope they are named named Adams, Patrick, Norris and Smythe and not regional nonsense though.
@amujinx – Yes, the need to fix those darn conference names!
So that NY/Boston hate is real! lol My fiancé is a New Yorker and detests all Boston teams.
I thought he was just being goofy!! lol
I really miss all the fighting in hockey. There’s nothing like a good old beat down. Todd Bertuzzi is probably one of the most hated men among fans of the NHL. I adore him. Probably because he plays for the Wings.
Who remembers the Wings/Avalanche brawl of ‘97??
Good times!!
Yay, Sid and his crybabies are headed home. Rabid Sabers fan until they fired Lindy. Darcy should roast in Hell.
@amujinx Yes!!!!!!!!
That’s the one! lol
Wow! Well played Boston!
Buh bye Princess Crysby and your merry band of assholes! lol
I watch it occasionally.
It’s been 20 years since a Canadian team won the Stanley. Now there are teams in palm-tree-infested cities (including the one where I live), where ice never forms outside of a rink or a refrigerator.
By the 30th anniversary of Canada’s absence from the Cup, the remaining Canadian teams will have moved to Honolulu, Phoenix, New Orleans, Jacksonville, and Miami.
Nothing says hockey like cacti, dust storms, hurricanes, and swampland.
I guess Canada’s just too cold for a game that’s played on ice. ;-)
@Brian1946 I had high hopes for the Leafs this year. They were my grandpas favorite team, so they have a special place in my heart.
I am excited about the Original 6 matchup in the finals, but I’m bummed that the Kings were knocked out. No Chicago love here!
I’m going to go with Boston in 6.
@Brian1946 When two of the top three teams in worth are both Canadian teams, I don’t see all of the Canadian teams going anywhere soon. The Jets are the lowest Canadian team in value, and they sellout every game since being brought back. The only reason the NHL purged Canadian teams originally is Bettman’s attempt to “grow” the game in unconventional markets and how poorly the Canadian dollar was doing at the time. If anything, I see an NHL team heading to Canada since Québec City has that brand new NHL ready arena being built next to Le Colisée Pepsi.
Source of team values
Half-assed source on the new Québec arena: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colisée_Pepsi (it won’t link properly because of the accent)
As for a team moving to Miami as you suggested, isn’t Sunrise close enough to Miami for you? ;P
Who wants to hear my Gary Bettman rant? lol
I won’t go into it, I’ll just say that he is the devil and he’s ruining hockey!
I hate that man!
GO BLACKHAWKS!!!!!
btw, has anyone noticed the Colorado Avalanche front office is starting to look just like the team from 2001
GO BRUINS!!!!!!!
I’m only going with Boston because I’m still pissed about the Hawks being the better team in the series against my Red Wings.
@Katniss ga for fiendly friendly rivalry!
Chicago 4, Boston 3 with three overtimes! I can’t wait for the second game on Saturday!
@Yetanotheruser I’m still trying to recover. I’m pissed about the outcome as well!
@Katniss I do have to admit, the two teams are very evenly matched! Three OT’s says something about the Bruins as much as it does the Blackhawks. I really feel awkward having this conversation without beer involved!
@Yetanotheruser They are evenly matched. I thought that the Bruins and the Pens were going to be pretty even as well. Hahahaha! I laughed so hard at Malkin and Crysby’s combined ZERO points in the series.
@Katniss Good game Saturday night. It would be something if all the games in the playoffs went into OT!
Since it seems to be you and me, I’m not responding further until I have a beer in my hand! LOL!~
Tonight’s game is good too!!
I’m just hoping that Boston wins in regulation. I have to get up early.
But!!!! I’m loaded up on caffeine, just in case. :0)
NOT happy about this! At all!!
We fell asleep when it was tied 5 -5. Woke up after it was done and didn’t find out until this morning who won! Getting old is hell!
@tedibear I hear ya! I managed to stay awake, but I was worried about another triple OT. lol
I had to get up at 5 and I need my beauty sleep!!
Ok. It’s panic time. I’m soooo pissed off right now. AND to make matters worse I’m going to have Chelsea Dagger stuck in my head the rest of the night!
I’ll be pissed if Boychuk isn’t Shana-banned for that dirty headshot to Toews.
I doubt the NHL is going to suspend anyone in game 6 of the cup finals. They may fine Boychuck for a high hit but all that happens so fast on the ice. The replay seems to show Toews duck at the last second, I’m not saying Boychuck shouldn’t have gotten an elbowing penalty though. It goes both ways – with 14 seconds remaining a Bruin defenseman was tripped – a tomahawk chop at his legs and Chicago scored on an open net. Clearly a Chicago penalty, but the ref’s swallowed their whistles long before that..
It happens fast, but there is zero excuse to ever hit someone that high, especially from the back. They also should be reviewing Seidenberg’s boarding on Kruger. Both are examples of what the NHL has been saying they want out of the game. Why would you let that go just because it’s the SCF? It says that the rules don’t apply when it’s a big game, and that’s a poor precedent to set. The NHL has suspended people in the SCF before too. Aaron Rome ring any bells?
As for the “tomahawk chop”, the only tomahawk chop I saw was Lucic’s on the net after that goal. It was clearly a trip, but there is no need to embellish it to make it sound more malicious that it was.
Clearly a Chicago fan. You certainly see it through Blackhawk eyes.
Oh yes, knowing how the NHL has stated they want rules 41 and 48 to be interpreted completely makes me a ‘Hawks fan.
As you said earlier you have an “extreme passionate hate for Boston”. Given that fact, I would say you may not be very objective about this. Just my opinion, though.
I’m about as objective as possible about rule interpretation. During the game, I decided to call every penalty that was neglected to be called for about a minute during the second period. It was about half and half. I just don’t want to see good players, or even role players get hurt over careless checks that are dangerous. One would think after the Rome/Horton hit and the Cooke/Savard hit more Boston fans would sympathize and wish to see less of those types of plays, but instead they choose to idolize players like Marchand who submarined made of glass Salo instead of going shoulder to shoulder with him (and Marchand would have won since Marchand is a much better hitter). I’m certainly not saying my fanbase is better, because honestly too many people here love Kaleta, and he has no business being in the league after his head-butts and multiple extremely late hits in every game.
Ok hockey fans, are we ready for tonight’s game?
I’m thinking it might be a late night so I’m chugging coffee. lol
Lord Stanley’s Cup is going to be in da house. Very exciting!!!!
GO BRUINS!!!!!!! I want a game 7!!!!
Me too. It’s been too great a series not to go the distance!
@BosM It really has. I love that it’s an Original Six matchup.
I really want Boston to win, but only because the Hawks took out my Red Wings.
Both teams have truly amazing talent on them. Both of them are worthy of winning.
The only player on either team that I dislike is Hossa. He’s a Cup chaser that totally bailed on Detroit when we didn’t win the Cup. He has no team loyalty whatsoever.
@Katniss I’m not a big fan of Hossa either. It will be tough for Boston to take the next two but I hope they do as well. Great series by two closely matched teams. Let’s see who gets the lucky bounces tonight.
@BosM I agree. When the Hawks hit their stride they’re pretty unstoppable.
You’re right about the bounces too. That’s pretty much going to be the deciding factor seeing as both goaltenders are nothing short of spectacular. Although I think the refs have a hand in it too. Sometimes they seem to be pretty one sided in their officiating.
Also, the whole “intent to blow the whistle” bs has got to go. The Red Wings have been burned by that many a time. Either blow it or don’t. Don’t stand there and wave your arms around and say that you intended to do it. You didn’t do it, so kindly screw off and let the game continue.
Crazy ending! Congrats Chicago. Well played.
Yes it was. Too bad, the Bruins really gave that one away, would have loved a Game 7. But, the better team prevailed.
They blew it big time. I was disappointed until I saw Scotty Bowman hoisting the Cup. That made it all better for me. :0)
If I heard correctly, part of the rink was melting. :-0
Nothing says hockey like a Stanley Cup won in the summertime! ;-)
Boston forgot you have to play defense 15 minutes a period. Leaving guys unchecked in front of the goalie?
@Adirondackwannabe I think they did play defense for 15 minutes. They forgot about the last 5 though.
All in all, fantastic series though.
@amujinx I realized that after I posted that. Good catch.
