Shall we start a thread where people post what they eat in a day?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47072points) June 7th, 2013

With all the “excuses” and “out of shape” threads about weight, let’s see what’s really going on with every one and their diets.
You must be brutally honest! You must tell us every little thing you put in your mouth, be it water, or a life-saver or tic tac or a bite of cheese!
I suppose we should include any “exercise” we do as well.

Today is Friday, June 7th.
I got up at 8:30. It is now 11:26.

I’ve had ½ cup of black coffee
A few sips of diet coke (but I’m freakin’ freezing so that ice wasn’t attractive.)
I put a buttered English muffin (2 halves) in the oven about 10 minutes ago, so, in a few minutes, I’ll be “eating” for the first time today. I often put strawberry jam on my English muffins, but today I’ll only go with toasted. And I’ll have a (huge) glass of milk with it.

Great idea. I’m in.
It is now 12:40 This is everything that went into the pie hole so far.
Up at 5:45 . Breakfast at around 6:30
2 cups of Green tea.
2 pieces of marble rye (the last 2 in the bag so one was only 1 inch x 1.5 inches) whipped cream cheese on both . One sprinkled with poppy seeds.
1 banana

No snacks, no drinks before lunch
Started at about 12:10
Three small white potatoes, about 300 grams 10 oz (I am trying to use up a bag that is getting rotten) sliced on a mandolin and fried in olive oil. While cooking I grabbed about 10 stalks of chives from the garden and cut about 4 inches worth into the pan. I added salt, a dash of mustard seeds that pop when it gets too hot, paprika, (trying to use up some 6 year old stuff) and 8 – 10 baby spinach leaves.
When it was done and still in the pan I scooped out the center, cracked open and egg and plopped it in the middle.
Added one scoop instead of two to the old coffee filter and grounds left over from someone else’s morning coffee and had 2 cups of coffee. ½ teaspoon of sugar and a splash of skim milk in the first one. Nothing added to the second.
i brushed my teeth after lunch and coffee and leave a little toothpaste in my mouth so it has time to brighten my pearly whites.
I will eat nothing else until dinner. Nothing . I rarely snack.

Tea with a touch of fat free milk and a packet of raw sugar.
Bowl of “Honey Sunshine” Kashi cereal with fat free milk
Now I’m eating some utterly disgusting microwaveable Thai food. I didn’t want to spend money on lunch today, but I might have to go get some pizza. Yuck.

Fri, Jun 7th:

It is 7pm, and so far I have had 1 cheese filled bun about the size of a table spoon. I will try to eat something else later. I have also consumed about 12 glasses of water, as it is very hot today.

About a month ago, I managed to lie my way in to a job in the kitchen as a chef. Since starting the job, I have lots a lot of weight, too much weight, because I am not eating prperly and need to try and eat more.

I work 9am to 2pm, 3:30pm to 7pm and 8pm to 1am. I find that I don’t have time to eat. While I do actually have a spare hour or two, and could force myself to eat something in that time, I just really don’t want to.

Some how, working around food all day has made me lose my appetite, and I am unable to cook for myself until I have had a couple hours to relax, so when I do eat, it is normally at 3am or something.

I need to increase caloric intake and eat at better times of the day.

bookish1's avatar

Sure. I love talking about food and drink with other people.

Breakfast: 2 cups of strong black coffee, a glass of water, 1 cup of Puffins peanut butter cereal with about ½ cup almond milk, a small naval orange, and 2 diet mountain dews. (Horrible, I know. I don’t ingest this much caffeine very often, but I had an early phone call with a prospective landlord in France, and caffeine helps my considerable social/phone anxiety.)

Lunch: About 1.5 cups of rice and beans that I made a huge quantity of and have been eating all week. It’s made from brown rice, black eyed peas and great northern beans, a whole chopped onion, chopped fresh steamed broccoli, tomato juice, a little bit of parmesan cheese, and a masterful blend of spices. Also brewing a cup of chamomile tea to fight the caffeine jitters, haha.

Dinner will probably be a green salad (lettuce, onions, carrots, maybe some olives and cheese with homemade vinaigrette), topped with fried tempeh or fake soy ‘chicken’.

I drink lots of water and tea (caffeinated or herbal, depending on my needs!) throughout the day. I don’t snack unless my blood sugar goes low, or I get drunk and missed dinner.

I’m a creature of habit and I love to be in a routine. These are the kind of meals I’ve been having for the past month or so, now that I am no longer in exam-crisis-mode.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I am still hungry but I don’t know when I’ll get around to eating again. Probably sometime around 3.

LuckyGuy's avatar

I have already been PM’d and need to explain a couple of things. As requested, and in keeping with the spirit of the Q, I am being totally honest.

I am a little ashamed that I ate white potatoes. They are empty calories. I am using up the bag because I am a cheapskate. I bought the bag to use as ammo for a potato cannon last weekend. The big ones are gone – probably orbiting the moon – and I refuse to throw away food unless it is so furry it is scary.
I do not rinse after I brush my teeth. I leave the toothpaste on . It gives my mouth a fresh taste and I figure it helps whiten my teeth.

I will try to come up with a calorie estimate at the end of the day. I aim for about 2000 -2400 if I am mildly active. Under severe conditions for extended times – extreme cold, climbing towers, thin air, I will eat over 4000 calories per day.

Kardamom's avatar

OK, it’s currently 10:16 a.m. I had one small glass of cold water, followed immediately by a cup of instant coffee with about 2 tablespoons of non-fat milk.

livelaughlove21's avatar

This morning I ate a piece of whole wheat toast with 1tbsp natural peanut butter, a banana, and a half a serving of light yogurt. I had a bottle of water with that

I had another bottle of water before lunch.

For lunch, I ate two slices of lean deli turkey and Swiss on a whole wheat pita (toasted) with a mango and another bottle of water.

I’m halfway through my fourth bottle of water. I’m contemplating having a snack consisting of an apple and/or 12 roasted almonds.

For dinner, I will be eating a grilled boneless pork chop, ½ cup of wild rice, and 1 cup of green beans or cooked carrots. I’ll enjoy a Cherry Coke Zero with dinner.

Tonight, I’ll have my last bottle of water at the gym. There, I will do a 10-minute warm-up on the elliptical, 30 minutes of strength training, and a 20 minute brisk walk on the treadmill.

Calorie count: 1220

This is pretty much how every weekday plays out.

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

Eating is heavily integrated into today’s activities, so I must tell you not only of the meals, but how I got the food. At 0-Dark-30 it was French pressed Pilon coffee and a leftover can of foie gras (chopped liva) with crackers. Had to eat it before it turned. Then I went into town and bought some long bread at the bakery (kind of a fat baguette, aromatic of cumin and caraway) and picked up a friend for a day of fishing and sailing.

Back at the dock we cast our nets for menhaden, a kind of small baitfish. While motoring to the north end of Portsmouth Bay (ca. 0800) we had more coffee with some of the fresh bread with slices of roasted chicken my friend brought along, an open-face affair. We dropped our hooks into a couple of holes for redfish. A local told me they were biting so big that we would have to hide behind the mast to bait our hooks. By ca. 1030, we caught three very pretty ones, from 6 to 10 pounders, which translates into 6 filets for a total of about 5–6 lbs of fish, not counting the meaty heads which will go into tomorrow’s delicious clear breakfast soup with a little wild rice, garlic, leek, and anything else that sounds good. It will be great with more fresh bread and some butter, if I can find some. About 1235: I filet’d the redfish, put four filets on ice and Cathy is frying/sautee-ing two in olive oil for our lunch as we sail north around the point into Tucari Bay (butter is expensive and hard to find here). It looks like she’s using a lot of lemon, garlic, onions. It will be served over wild rice. I keep a lot of wild rice onboard. We’ll anchor in Tucari and hang for the afternoon. She wants to snorkel. I know where there is a ton of conch ripe for the picking near where a creek empties into the bay. Incredibly sweet conch. And a bed of tender little coquilles/scallops. And near that spot, on shore, are starfruit (dragon fruit?) and mango trees. Dinner will be fine tonight. In the meantime we’ll knosh on chunks of the longbread dipped into a flat saucer of vinaigrette. We’ll snack on the fruit we find on shore. Maybe well go sailing tonight. I live for nightsailing.

Strauss's avatar

This morning at 6:30 I had a bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar, cocoa powder and coconut shreds. While I was eating that, I was preparing some of last night’s meat loaf for my wife’s lunch, and I cut myself a slice. I also munched on some of the potatoes. On the way home from taking my wife to work, I had a burrito from from my favorite food truck.

I am not dieting, just tending toward healthy choices. I have an occasional splurge (I love the tacquitoes at 7–11).

Dutchess_III's avatar

I wanna go with you @Espiritus_Corvus!

Well, now I have some errands to run, so that will delay my eating. But when I get back I’m going to make a cheese sauce, starting with a roue, and using American cheese. I’ll pour it over a baked potato. I may, or may not crunch up the couple of pieces of cooked bacon we have in the fridge and I may or may not use the last green onion.

I haven’t had “solter salt” (an old family name to describe the cheese sauce, that we never quite figured out where it came from!) in several years. I’m looking forward to it. Have been for 3 days, just kept putting it off.

Drinking Diet Coke now, tho.

Apple for breakfast. Grapes and a mocha for dinner. Salad and veggie burger for tea. Toffees for snacks.

Friday, June 7th
(as of 2:38PM)
• Ice Coffee (cream, 1 sweet & low)
• Bacon, egg, cheese sandwich on a croissant
• 5 bottles of water
• chocolate doughnut (as it’s National Doughnut Day and DD was giving them out free)
• Unsalted plantain chips
• Sandwich of grilled chicken and beef with arugula at a Venezuelan restaurant

livelaughlove21's avatar

@cookieman National Donut Day?! I’m so glad I didn’t know that until now!

Ron_C's avatar

I started to remove this question from my list but decided that it needs answering. I just finished looking through Facebook and saw many people publishing way too much about themselves.

The last thing we need is for the self-indulgent telling about their breakfast. The next thing will be a discussion of their daily bowel movement.

jonsblond's avatar

3 cups of coffee, some water and a bowl of Wheaties for breakfast.
I just mowed for 3 hours (push mower) and I am now taking a break, drinking iced tea (nothing added) and a half of a sub sandwich I made with whole wheat bread, a slice of smoked turkey lunch meat and colby jack.
I still have about 2 more hours of mowing and some flowers to plant. I’ll be deciding what to do for dinner while I’m working in the yard.

JLeslie's avatar

Friday, June 7th

White omelette with zuchini, onion, and mushrooms and one ounce of vermont sharp white cheddar. A piece of dry multigrain toast. Water.

Wheatena hot cereal with skim milk. Water.

3 potato and veggie latkes with some ketchup. Mixed juice (pomegranite, acai, banana, apple concoction). Water. Handful of Raisinets.

Still hungry, going to have a small salad with ginger dressing in a little while.

For dinner I’ll have a bean, chickpea, celery thing.

It’s national donut day, so I will probably go to get a free one tonight with my husband. Not sure if I will eat it today, probably not. I might not even eat it and give it to my husband. It’s one of his favor sweet treats.

Dutchess_III's avatar

“a bean, chickpea, celery thing” .... Lol!

Well, I’ve got my roux going for the cheese sauce…I keep forgetting I have a DOUBLE BOILER!! I don’t have to stand on top of it! It’s gonna be tricky, though, because up until now I’ve made a big batch of it for starving teenagers. I only have a limited amount of cheese to work with….

LuckyGuy's avatar

@Ron_C One poop after the morning tea had a chance to work. Followed by morning shower, and tooth brushing while in the shower.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Um..do we HAVE to talk about our BM’s? :( Texture and consistency and all that? :( Wait! This is my thread! I make the rules! NO DISCUSSING SHIT HERE! Unless you ate it and died.

JLeslie's avatar

@Dutchess_III Lord, don’t be telling me about yummy roux for cheese sauce. I actually had cheese on my omelette, which is a cheat for me. Although, I wouldn’t eat cheese sauce on my potato anyway, so I can resist it if you invite me for dinner. Now, if it was a roux for mac and cheese, different story.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh, it’s SO good! We had it a lot when I was a kid.

peridot's avatar

Great question!

This morning, I had a bowl of rice, with spices.
Later I had some watermelon chunks.
Then I met a friend at a restaurant; had sparkling tea (strawberry-lime) with a handful of edamame.
Right this minute, I’m finishing off ½ cup of nuts.
Dinner will probably be chicken curry with veg. I may or may not have a glass of white wine beforehand.

cookieman's avatar

@livelaughlove: I was surprised too when the guy behind the counter handed me a doughnut with my ice coffe.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Ate my tato. I put the cheese sauce on it, and also (in the interests of honesty) butter and cream cheese. And a crumbled slice of bacon and green onion bits. (Kind of wish I hadn’t done the bacon and the onions.)
And…it’s almost beer-thirty. (I know I ingest a LOT of calories with beer. :( )

peridot's avatar

Oops, forgot to mention exercise! This morning, since it was already well into the 100s, I just did some floor exercises—some with weights, some without.

Tonight—after it cools WAY off—I’ll probably do either several laps around the nearby track or go on a bike ride. On cooler days, the park nearby is great for bike rides and more ambitious hikes.

jonsblond's avatar

More iced tea and a handful of mini pretzels after an hour of mowing. One more hour to go then off to the store for dinner.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, I moved a couple 50 pound collapsible tables for the garage sale we’re having tomorrow that I don’t want to have.
My stomach hurts!

Aster's avatar

Oh, great . Wait until you health nuts read mine: 8am: One large mug of Folger’s Vanilla Cappucino, one banana, one cup of Oatmeal Crisp with raisins cereal. One gelcap of fish oil . One Astaxanthin, one Ashwagandha capsule.
2pm: 4 tacos, shells baked first. Filled with greasy, hot and delicious ground chuck seasoned with an envelope of Taco Seasoning mix, lettuce, chopped tomatoes and some parmesan cheese on top. Burp. 8oz of cold , sugar free tea w/2 Equals.
4pm: one RARELY EATEN, SINFUL Sonic medium hot fudge sundae. Burp. I am so full and contented. I’ll diet “tomorrow.” Now I will spend 4 minutes on my indoor trampoline. I’m sure that’ll do a lot of calorie burning.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Burp. LOL!
Sounds fine to me, @Aster! Including the Sundae. I usually just cook my meat with Salsa, though.

cookieman's avatar

6:00PM Check In
Just had a bowl of pecan granola cereal with 2% milk.

Dutchess_III's avatar

beer My tummy still hurts

Kardamom's avatar

At 3 PM I had a small glass of Simply brand orange banana juice and one pecan, because I needed to take a pill that has to be taken with food. In the meantime, I’ve been cooking a pot of Bob’s Red Mill Vegi Soup to which I added a can of no-salt diced tomatoes, some nutritional yeast and some various spices including oregeno, garlic and Mrs. Dash Chipotle Blend and some fresh shallots, and some fresh lemon juice.

In the oven is a pan of Marie Callender’s Lowfat Cornbread. It is now 3:23 PM and I haven’t actually had lunch yet, but the soup and cornbread should be done in about 10 minutes. If I had been smarter, I would have started the soup earlier, but I waited until I was actually hungry to start it. D’oh!

So lunch will be a bowl of soup and a piece of cornbread with Smart Balance Buttery Spread

Much later on, maybe around 8 PM, I will probably have leftovers from yesterday. My Dad wanted BBQ yesterday, so he ordered a meal that came with a side of coleslaw plus French fries and 2 big onion rings (he hates coleslaw and onion rings). So I only ordered a piece of corn, and ate some of his fries, both rings, and some of the coleslaw. So tonight I will have about ¾ of a cup of coleslaw and half of an ear of corn, and maybe I’ll make myself a piece of garlic toast, with a glass of orange juice.

My meals each day are usually very different. I like a lot of variety. A few days ago, I made both a Bean Salad and a Sweet and Sour cucumber salad, so I had some of each with a piece of whole wheat flat bread schmeared with peanut butter for lunch. For dinner, I had 4 pieces of Trader Joe’s Spanakopita (It has 12 pieces and is meant to be served all at once as appetizers, but I eat 4 pieces as a meal with a little side salad of lettuce, cauliflower, carrots and walnuts with olive oil and Balsamic vinegar. I dipped the spanakopita in some non-fat Greek yogurt mixed with a pinch of dill and a splash of lemon juice.

LuckyGuy's avatar

6:50 PM Just finished supper.
2 pieces of home made pizza (left over)
half of a glass of wine – about 80 ml
Half a free donut because it was donut day
Cup of decafe coffee with sugar and skim milk with the donut. (Teeth will be brushed shortly.)

No snacks or additional fluids before bed.

Friday, June 7, 2013. It is 4:55 pm. Throughout the day, I had some yogurt, a salad, left over pizza, a can of Pepsi Max and water. Oh, wait, the Pepsi was yesterday. I’ve been busy digging dirt most of the day. My brain is fried from the sun.

Kardamom's avatar

@LuckyGuy I almost forgot about it being donut day! Somebody posted that on Facebook this morning and then for about an hour I was craving a glazed donut from Winchell’s.

jonsblond's avatar

A little after 6pm. The fifth hour of mowing is now done. I’m going to go pick up some pizza, then come home and eat, grab a beer and plant my flowers before it gets dark. Husband and daughter are tossing the softball and we’ll get a fire going to roast marshmallows. This is not a typical day. It’s Friday! If you had asked this on a Tuesday I would have listed more veggies, fruit, yogurt and no alcohol. :)

cookieman's avatar

8:00PM Check In
Just had three beef empanadas from a local Argentine restaurant.

And another bottle of water.

Seek's avatar

8:20 check in.

Got that pizza. Then they told me they ordered in lunch, and here’s my chicken salad wrap and veggie barley soup. Two bites and I was stuffed.

They might have told me BEFORE I took off to the pizza shop… Grr. Brought the wrap home to the hubs.

Oh, some Pepsi, too. For me. I might have some chocolate ice cream with peanut butter for dessert.

JLeslie's avatar

I never ate the salad. I did sautee some veggies (very little oil) so they will be in the fridge over the weekend for the taking. I ate some of what I cooked before putting them away. I did eat the bean chickpea concoction also. Plus, water.

jonsblond's avatar

@Dutchess_III Beer 2 for me and flowers are waiting until tomorrow. I’m spent! :)

LornaLove's avatar

I woke up at 9am and didn’t eat!

Around 3.pm I had a toasted sandwich

Then around 11.pm A small plate of rocket and pesto pasta

it’s now 2.14. am and I have had a small bowl of Greek yoghurt with nuts on top.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@jonsblond You EARNED it! (I didn’t…I’m doing advance beer against the garage sale I’m apparently having at my house tomorrow.)

About ⅓rd of a cup of coffee with Coffeemate.
A poached egg on whole wheat toast with salt, pepper and chipotle Tabasco.
Water with a small squirt of green MiO
Some cheese ravioli with tomato sauce, and plain water.
A green salad with carrot shreds, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries and a ginger sesame dressing.
The last of my homemade chili with cheese shreds, diced onion, and 2 corn tortillas.
A glass of cheap white wine.
Cranberry lime seltzer water.

Kardamom's avatar

After dinner, I had a bowl of about 30 pecans with a tiny pinch of kosher salt. G’night all.

I’m sure that tomorrow, I will have a completely different meal.

Yesterday I was traveling and I stopped at Dunkin Donuts to get coffee for myself and my friend. She wanted iced coffee and I was getting regular coffee. The girl at the counter said “What kind of donuts will you be having today?” I said “I am not getting donuts today.” I thought this was some new kind of marketing tactic, to push donuts by acting like they’re assuming everyone’s getting donuts. The girl said “Today is National Donut Day. You will be getting two free donuts.”

Of course, I took the donuts and had to eat one. Add that to what I ate yesterday, which was tea (regular tea with artificial sweetener and 2% milk), Greek vanilla yogurt with walnuts added, coffee, fresh fruit salad, a cookie, low salt popcorn (on the trip: bad bad bad) and at night, in a restaurant (Newport RI) I had seafood stew which was shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams in a tomato broth with a few string beans (I could not finish it all), bread and butter and some vino. Dinner was really good.

^^ Doughnut Day Strikes Again

Perhaps this wasn’t the best day for us to start recording what we eat.

livelaughlove21's avatar

6/8/13

Breakfast: 1 piece of toast with 1 tbsp natural peanut butter, a banana, and ½ serving if light yogurt (my signature breakfast)

Exercise: 10 minutes in elliptical, 10 minutes on bike, 10 minutes on stair machine, 30 minutes on treadmill (4.0mph)

Not sure about lunch or dinner, but I’m planning a 30–60 minute dog walk this evening after a day at the pool. :)

Dutchess_III's avatar

OMG. Up at 6:30 to get ready for garage sale. It’s 9:00, haven’t even had time to THINK about eating! Had a cup of coffee, and some diet coke.
Excercise: Vacuuming, sweeping, tending babies, printing out prices, generally running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
I am starving.

Dutchess_III's avatar

OMG. SOMEBODY GO TO MCDONALDS FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and did I mention my first exercise at 6:30 was cleaning up dead baby bird from all over the bathroom. :( Freakin’ cat.
Gotta go!

Dutchess_III's avatar

My prayers were answered. Rick ran and got 2 sausage McMuffins and 2 hash browns. I ate one of each and donated the other two to one of the kids who’s been here, stepping and fetching for us. That was at 9:45. It’s 11:00 now.
Gotta go!

Oh, It’s Saturday, 6/08/13.

Dutchess_III's avatar

2:00. Hubby made another McD run. I was STARVING! I gave him no instructions, so he got me a Big Mac and a med. fry. I ate about half of both.

livelaughlove21's avatar

My lunch was a natural peanut butter and sugar free strawberry jam sandwich made with two pieces of whole wheat bread and a cup of 1% milk. I’m currently on my third bottle of water.

I’m waiting for my husband to finish his 40 minute shower so we can pick up dog poop from the backyard (fun!) and take our puppy over to my mom’s house. Then I think we’ll pick up a quick bite on the way to the park where we’ll be taking the pup for a long walk.

Looking forward to my cheat day tomorrow. I’m thinking the new apple pie French toast at Denny’s. Mmmm…

Seek's avatar

8 ish, am, two slices of wheat toast with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter

Trip to the farmer’s market led to watermelon for lunch. Hubs made a snack of chicken nuggets and oven fries. I had about three nuggets and a handful of fries.

Now I’m frying up some eggplant for eggplant parmigiana. More stuff from the farmer’s market.

Kardamom's avatar

So this morning I had instant coffee with non-fat milk, that was around 10 AM. Then about 2:30 PM I had a quesadilla made with low fat cheddar cheese, onto which I added some chopped cauliflower and celery and a squirt of Taco Bell sauce, from a packet I had saved (I love that stuff) and a small glass of Simply Orange and Pineapple juice.

Not sure what I’m going to fix for dinner. I might get a bean and cheese burrito from one of our local Mexican restaurants.

Seek's avatar

Two glasses of merlot-cabernet blend.

cookieman's avatar

Went to a children’s birthday party today from noon until 7PM. You do not want to know what I ate today.

Kardamom's avatar

@cookieman If it’s like any of my family’s partys, there was a crockpot full of nacho cheese.

livelaughlove21's avatar

I ended up getting McDonald’s for dinner – I got 4 chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce, a small order of fries, and a fruit and yogurt parfait. With a water, of course.

Then I walked the dog for 30 minutes. On the way home, we stopped at Dairy Queen. Oh, temptation! I just got a small vanilla cone. I’m drinking one more bottle of water before going to bed.

Calories consumed: 1503
Calories burned: 500

Not too shabby, considering the fast food options I was presented with.

cookieman's avatar

@Kardamom: It was ridiculous. It started with bakery (Sicilian) pizza for lunch, then ice cream sundaes, then birthday cake. Off to miniature golf, then a pool party. Finally back to the house for a fish fry.

I did manage to skip the cake though.

Seek's avatar

Chocolate ice cream with peanut butter, then a few more bites of watermelon.

Whenever we get watermelon, I slice off the top like a jack-o-lantern, then scoop out the fruit with a melon baller, then dump it back in, top on, and in the fridge it goes. That way we have cold melon bites for a few days, and no melon juice all over the fridge.

Ron_C's avatar

@LuckyGuy I told you this would happen! Why don’t I feel happy knowing your morning ablution?

Dutchess_III's avatar

Sunday, June 9

Got up at 11:00. Decided to make some waffles. Rick fried some bacon. I’ve had 2.5 pieces of bacon, because waffles take a lot longer than bacon. First batch of waffles were an epic fail, and I need to start over. It’s 2:00 now. So, so far, 2.5 pieces of bacon, a half cup of coffee and some diet coke, and, for exercise, scraping and scraping at the waffle iron.

livelaughlove21's avatar

Cheat day! :)

I went to Denny’s and ate two pancake puppies dipped in syrup, an order of their new apple pie French toast, two pieces of bacon, two scrambled eggs with cheese, and a few bites of hash browns. I had a diet coke with that (because I like it, not to spare calories).

That’s about 1500 calories before noon. Yikes! But it was so worth it. It’s 3pm and I’m starting to feel hungry again. I’ll probably wait until dinner to eat – not sure what that’ll consist of yet.

Exercise? Unless you count walking around the grocery store, none. Sundays are for eating delicious, fattening foods and relaxing. So far, so good.

Kardamom's avatar

I didn’t end up getting a bean and cheese burrito for dinner last night after all. My Mom was cooking steak for her and my Dad, she also made baked potatoes and peas (from frozen). So I put a little bit of non-fat plain Greek yogurt on the tater, with some chopped chives from our garden, had some of the peas and ate the rest of the coleslaw that I still had left over (to which I added some dried cranberries and some chopped pecans) That coleslaw was so good like that, next time I make my own, I’ll do that.

About an hour later, I ate about a 2 by 2 inch square of pepper jack cheese, and then around 10 PM I had a small bowl of Raisin Bran with non-fat milk.

I haven’t had anything to eat yet (12:06 PM) although I did have my regular cup of instant coffee with non fat milk at ten.

Oh, I forgot to add, that every night before dinner, I chug down 2 Tablespoons of ground flaxseed meal with a glass of water. This is both for the fiber, and because I’m a vegetarian, this is how I get my Omega 3 fatty acid (rather than from fish or fish oil).

Dutchess_III's avatar

OK. It’s 3:37 and I just ate 3 waffles with syrup and a huge glass of milk. Finally.

livelaughlove21's avatar

Alright. After a big heaping pile of nachos with ground beef, black beans, queso, and sour cream with another diet coke and a twisty waffle cone from Dairy Queen, my cheat day has come to a close. I’m stuffed to the max! Back to the grind tomorrow.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I’ll bet you are! Man…I physically could not have eaten even half of what you ate for breakfast! But it all sounds so good. I want some nachos.

livelaughlove21's avatar

@Dutchess_III I can put it away, believe me. That’s why I have to carefully monitor my intake the other 6 days of the week.

jonsblond's avatar

@livelaughlove21 I’ve got to ask. Why the diet Coke on a cheat day? That’s not cheating. :)

Dutchess_III's avatar

Because after Diet Coke, regular coke tastes like fizzy pancake syrup!

Regular coke is nectar from the Gods, I don’t care what you say.

livelaughlove21's avatar

@jonsblond What @Dutchess_III said. I enjoy the taste of diet drinks, as it’s all I’ve been drinking since my step-father was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 13. I find regular sodas disgusting. It’s “cheating” because I limit myself to one diet soda per day Monday-Saturday. :)

JLeslie's avatar

@livelaughlove21 Do you get a headache on Sunday afternoon? Or, a general feeling of fog?

Dutchess_III's avatar

Do you feel like you’re going to have a baby at any second?

livelaughlove21's avatar

@JLeslie Nope. Just full and satisfied.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I just ate a bite of the BEST smoked/grilled pork chop I have ever eaten. Put the rest away for tomorrow.

JLeslie's avatar

@livelaughlove21 I’m not sure why you said full and satisfied, I was wondering if skipping the soda, the caffeine, made you feel crappy, but maybe you drink coffee in the morning and the soda barely counts. If I drink a coke every day and then skip one day, I feel ick. Maybe yours is caffeine free diet.

@Dutchess_III I forgot to write what I ate. Yesterday I had a pear, small salad, slice of pizza with very little cheese and bunches of veggies on it and a little bit of sausage. For dinner I had lightly breaded chicken, roasted veggies, brown rice, and some bread. I only drank water all day.

I consumed more salt yesterday than I have in a long time, and I feel more hydrated, I really think I need more salt than I have been eating since I became more strict with limiting meat and dairy in my diet. I am a little puffier though, gained 2 pounds in one day.

livelaughlove21's avatar

@JLeslie Uh, you asked if I felt a certain way on Sunday afternoons. I said no, and told you how I do feel on Sunday afternoons. Why are you not sure why I said that? How was I to know you were asking about caffeine? I assumed you were asking about the amount of unhealthy sugar-packed foods I eat.

I don’t drink coffee. I don’t have a caffeine free diet either. I drink one diet soda daily and 3–4 diet sodas on Sunday. Why would I have a headache on Sunday?

Now I’m confused…

JLeslie's avatar

@livelaughlove21 Oh, LOL, I thought you drank zero sodas on Sunday, which would put me into caffeine withdrawal and I would feel like crap no matter what I ate.

Seek's avatar

OK, catching up.

Yesterday: Wheat toast with fake butter. Cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato, fries. More watermelon. ½ cup of chocolate ice cream, two glasses of sweet tea, Hubs and I finished the bottle of wine from the day before. Might have been a can of diet soda in there somewhere. Egg sandwich with mozzarella cheese and tomato as a late-night snack.

Today – Everything bagel with fake butter (someone apparently ate all my cream cheese. Grr.), coffee with Splenda.

Dutchess_III's avatar

June 10. 11:32. Nothing yet. Well, a bit of coffee.

Dutchess_III's avatar

K. I had a buttered / toasted English muffin at about noon.
Now I’m heating up the pork chop that I didn’t eat last night.
I’m ignoring the angel food cake and strawberries in sugar that my husband brought home yesterday.

livelaughlove21's avatar

@JLeslie No, I drink Cherry Coke Zero…not zero cokes. :)

Dutchess_III's avatar

ROFLLLOLLL!!

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

Desserts is Stressed spelled backwards…

Dutchess_III's avatar

I ate most of my pork chop. It was big and about 2 inches thick. I couldn’t finish it all. Then I broke down and had a piece of angel food cake.

Ron_C's avatar

“One poop after the morning tea….....
Thanks @LuckyGuy I was worried that people would the “poop report”.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Ok, 2 pieces of angel food cake.

Now, beer.

JLeslie's avatar

Today I was bad. I notice once I start eating poorly I kind of get on jag.

Two toaster waffles with maple syrup, because @Dutchess_III put waffles into my head.

A few bites of pork tenderloin to make sure it tasted yummy when I cooked it for my husband’s lunch tomorrow.

Veggie patty/burger and corn.

Big piece of carrot cake with hot tea.

Romaine salad with ginger dressing.

Bagel with margarine.

A few ounces of juice (one of those super duper juices with pomegranite, acai, and some other thrown in).

Dutchess_III's avatar

That wasn’t bad! (And sorry about the waffles, man! LOL!)

Dutchess_III's avatar

Up at 6:30 for some strange reason. It’s 9, and my toasted English muffin is almost ready.
Some coffee (too much) and Diet Coke. And a huge glass of milk.

I have an appointment in a neighboring town this afternoon. That town has fast food places we don’t have….KFC, Taco Tico, Arby’s, Long John Silvers…..I’ve been thinking Arby’s for some reason, even though I haven’t been there in years.

So far, my excercising has been trying to clean all the nooks and crannies in the waffle iron because someone was SO sloppy when poured the batter into it!

JLeslie's avatar

@Dutchess_III I love Arby’s roast beef with Arby’s sauce. I almost never get to go because my husband doesn’t like Arby’s much. Their chicken fingers are really good too.

I didn’t have breakfast really today, just about to have an early lunch. Small romaine lettuce salad with ginger dressing, sticky rice, a few ounces of pork, and a veggie eggroll. Water.

I missed zumba this morning, but I did swim laps last night and did some water walking laps. After I eat I am going to clean the apartment, and later out to shop and a little mall walking.

Seek's avatar

Goddammit. Now I want an Arby’s Melt.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Do they make an au jus sandwich at Arby’s?

Seek's avatar

They call it a “French Dip”, and it used to be seasonal, but I think it’s on the menu permanently now.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh man. I got my sandwich. It was good, but it would have been SO much better if the dip wasn’t so salty. :( Why they do that?
I’m so stuffed.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Baby sitting twins. Been up since 8. I’ve been moving non stop (it’s 10:00 now) They’re both finally asleep. Choking down a bowl of Wheat Chex. With milk. No sugar.

JLeslie's avatar

Swam 20 lengths in the pool.

Grape nuts cereal with skim milk.

Just starting to think about lunch. It will be leftover pork (might be 2 ounces. This reporting on fluther is making me feel very inadequate since I have been trying to not eat any meat) sticky rice some green veg of some sort and pineapple.

Planning zumba in the late afternoon.

livelaughlove21's avatar

My breakfast and lunch stays the same pretty much all week, but I’ve decided my snack for today will be a healthier alternative to traditional baked apples…

1 green apple cut in half with with core spooned out of it
1 tbsp of oats in each half
1 tbsp pure maple syrup in each half, mixed with oats
1 tsp cinnamon sprinkled over each half
Bake at 350 for 25 minutes

I can’t wait. Yum!

For dinner, I’ll be cooking a pork tenderloin in the crock pot with a packet of onion soup mix, a couple tablespoons of low-sodium soy, water, garlic, and pepper. I’ll eat that with 1 cup of green beans and ½ cup of wild rice.

Total calories: 1450 (increasing my calorie intake, as I haven’t been eating enough to sustain my body)

Gym night tonight. Looking to switch up my routine. I’ve been lifting light weights, but I’m going to go heavier with less reps, with more intense cardio. We’ll see how that goes!

Kardamom's avatar

I’m about to head out the door to Hometown Buffet.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Just ate the last of a yummy roast with potatoes, onions, carrots and tomatoes that I made for Mother’s Day. With a huge glass of milk. And French bread to sop up the juices. So good.

Kardamom's avatar

So at Hometown Buffet I had a salad with mixed lettuces, carrots, peas, kidney beans and 3 croutons (l love them, but I know they’re not the best thing so I only ate 3) and a dollop of blue cheese dressing. Then I had a small bowl of potato soup. Then I had some steamed broccoli with cheese sauce, a very small half of a baked sweet potato, one big criss cross cut potato (kind of like a cross between a French fry and a potato chip) with some cocktail sauce, a piece of crispy cheesy garlic bread, some spicy carrots, and a few French green beans. For dessert I had a very small brownie. Just water to drink.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Man, that sounds good @Kardamom!
I’m done with food for today.
Beer.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Up at 8:30. Just went to McD’s and splurged. Egg McMuffin and sausage and cheese biscuit. It’s 10:15.

Dutchess_III's avatar

3:30. I made one of my favorite dishes….elbow mac with stewed tomatoes and tomatoes sauce, and cheddar cheese melted all through it! And I ‘m done with food for today!

Dutchess_III's avatar

BLT at noon and huge glass of milk.
Eating chocolate chips now

jca's avatar

@JLeslie: Carrot cake? Mmmmm.

JLeslie's avatar

@jca Thank goodness I don’t love carrot cake because of the icing, but this icing tasted very very little like cream cheese (I hate cream cheese so I notice the smalles hint of it) so I actually gave about ⅓ to my husband. I still ate a lot of cake though.

I have been good the last couple of days, although I barely can remember what I ate. LOL. My memory is so bad. A couple salads, cheeseless pizza, sauteed mixed veggies, a veg eggroll, rice.

Plucky's avatar

It’s 4:00 am but I haven’t slept yet, so it’s still today… err yesterday is today. Any ways, I had strawberry/banana yogurt, strawberries, a plum, a salad, crackers and cheese, some leftover brown rice and egg, and a veggie hot dog (no bun or condiments).

Dutchess_III's avatar

YOU HATE CREAM CHEESE @JLeslie??? UNFOLLOWING!!!! i cant belee u sed that! I am heartbroken!

Yesterday, had an English Muffin with butter for breakfast. I was baby sitting 5 kids, 2 of them infant twins, so around 3:30 I had a chance to choke down a double decker tuna fish sandwich. That is all.

Seek's avatar

@Dutchess_III Ferser. One of my go-to snacks is cream cheese on a garlic Triscuit. Yum-o.

JLeslie's avatar

@Dutchess_III Yes, I’m probably the only Jewish person who hates cream cheese. I eat my lox directly on the bagel. I hate the jalapeño poppers because of the cream cheese.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I. Will. Take. Your. Jalapeño. Poppers. All. Of. Them.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yesterday I splurged on an Egg McMuffin, a Sausage and Cheese McMuffin and a hash brown. Later I ate the rest of the tuna fish.

Today 6/22. I’ve been up since 10:00, haven’t eaten yet and I’m STARVING! It’s 1:15.

JLeslie's avatar

I just ate a huge meal. Big buffet dinner at the race track. Romain lettuce with a little balsamic dressing, grilled and marinated yellow peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, eggplant and zucchini (OMG it was delicious) two slices of tenderloin, 3 huge shrimps, and a small roll. One largish lemon square.

For breakfast I had eaten a medium sized muffin lunch was a veggie burger, a few fries and about 6 oz of coke. Add a small bag of doritos for a snack about an hour after lunch.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Drove to OK to take my grand daughter to camp. Left at noon to be there by 2:00. Grabbed an oatmeal/chocolate granola bar of some kind at the gas station and ate that on the way. On the way back stopped at Burger King (which I rarely get to have ‘cuz they don’t have one within 60 miles of here) in Ponca and got a Whopper Jr w/cheese and an order of onion rings. It was good! Especially the Whoper Jr!

Kardamom's avatar

Cup of instant coffee and a glass of 2% milk for breakfast.

Lunch consisted of some Gardein fake pulled pork on half a slice of multi-grain bread, with about 5 Lays potato chips, and 2 big hunks of pickled spicy carrots (left over from a takeout Mexican restaurant)

Just about to have dinner, the last 3rd of the giant bean and cheese burrito that I got the day before yesterday, with 4 different kinds of salsa (in those little plastic containers from the takeout joint) and more of the spicy carrots, plus a dollop of pesto pasta salad with sundried tomatoes from Fresh and Easy grocery store.

Dutchess_III's avatar

You go sleep on the couch tonight @Kardamom!

Seek's avatar

Made a giant pork roast for dinner tonight. Stewed some veggies with it – all the classics – carrots, taters, celery, onion, and served the lot on egg noodles. Had to invite friends over to finish the pot. Om nom nom… I’m stuffed to the gills.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Watching the twins. I choked down an English Muffin while feeding Kale. That was at 8. They both went to sleep at the same time just now, at 11:45 so I threw together a bologna sandwich and gobbled it down before they wake up again.
1 huge glass of milk with each meal.

JLeslie's avatar

Hot chocolate, 3 slices of rye toast, white omelette with the smallest amount of cheese.

Edamame with some soy sauce and Squirt drink.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yesterday…Egg McMuff, sausage McMuff in the AM. On the way to Ponca to pick up my granddaughter from camp, I grabbed a cheese Danish at the convenience store. Ate ¼, gave the rest to my grandson. Also ate about 5 Pringles chips (man they’re salty!) Gave the rest of the Pringles to my grand daughter. On the way home stopped at Burger King again and got a Whopper Jr. and a small fry. Yay!
