Cats groom each other as a social bonding activity (and to simply clean). It is usually done between cats who know one another. If you have more than two cats, sometimes two will fight over who gets to groom the third or forth cat.
So, yes, they are becoming buddies.
A friend of mine had an elderly Siamese cat. Somewhat rashly, I thought, she introduced a rambunctious kitten into the household. When the older cat got over her apparent territorial anxiety, she taught the newcomer to groom her. Happy pair.
Yes, they’re feeling friendly towards each other and it’s a bonding thing. My two cats occasionally groom each other and purr.
Unless you ask, and they answer, it’s all just whatever the humans imagine
It means they are covertly plotting to assassinate you when you least expect it, or, gossiping about you under the ruse of grooming, on occasion it means they really dig each other and wish to show their affections and strengthen their bonding through grooming behaviors.
“Ewwww you don’t smell right, let me make you smell like me.”
Why do humans give each other backrubs???
@bookish1 That depends. If its a guy giving a backrub, it is because he is hoping to get lucky. If it’s a girl, she is usually hoping the guy will reciprocate without it turning into sex.
I don’t know if cats think like that. LOL
@Pandora LOL..yeah, most men are incapable of not getting an erection when being massaged. The little bones connected to the big bone…hahaha
Our cat has been groomed by one of our dogs. They are all buddies. seriously, I think our cat thinks he’s a dog. He runs up to me when the dogs do when I give them snacks and he plays with the dogs when we are all outside. It’s cute.
well there can be many different reasons: 1 if it is a male and a female cat they be just getting to know each other and might be future partners 2 it could be just kitty buddies who are best friends and helping each other 3 it could simply be out of the ordinary helping each other out Hope I helped, Jessica
It’s a social bonding between them.
