Have you ever had a pet sitter? How did you find that person and how did everything go?

Good question. This is something I would like to know as well.

I’ve had my dogs at a doggie daycare, which I personally think was a disaster. My one dog came home with his voice so hoarse from barking all day. But when he got home he did sleep soundly. But since then he actually hasn’t stopped barking at things. :/

I think the next time if I ever look for another dog sitter it will be with someone who employs similar rules to me. No more just drop off and do whatever all day doggy spoilfest that I pay for, over and over. lol.

@Pachyderm_In_The_Room Right. Trust is a big issue.

@Katniss’ link was helpful.

Here it is word of mouth; almost everyone owns at least one dog and the neighbors simply take turns.

But this is a very small and rural community.

For example, my sister no longer has dogs and often has her friends’ dogs for two- or three-day sleep-overs.

We also have community bulletin boards in reliable places, like the local churches, the post office and the country store.

How about asking your vet’s office or the local Humane Society?

Family first, then ask the vet.

Ask a vet you trust for advice.
