How can I assign key combinations to bookmarks in Firefox?

Okay, so I’m on my one-week trial of Firefox 3 to see if I’d rather use it than Safari on my Mac. I’m doing my best to adjust, but one thing I can’t figure out is this: In Safari, command-1, command-2, etc. are assigned to the first, second, and so on bookmarks in your bookmark bar. I use these combinations constantly — is there a way I can assign these combinations to different bookmarks?

For the Mac:
Here’s how to create keyboard shortcuts in general. Open the Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences panel, then click on the Keyboard Shortcuts tab. Click the plus sign, then set the Application pop-up menu to Firefox. Enter a descriptive title, and your desired keyboard shortcut (like Command-1) in the Keyboard Shortcut box, then click Add.
Robmandu, I used what you described to individually set the four sites I use, but Firefox overrides with its default combinations and assigns command+2 to select the second tab in the tab bar, etc.
Hmmm… just searching around, I found something called keyconfig that claims to be compatible with Firefox 1.0 – 3.0.
I haven’t tried it.
Yeah, it went down 42 seconds after it opened. I tried to download FF3 at 1:00 on the dot, but I hit it toward the end of the minute so I was out of luck!
(Got it around 2:15).
Thanks — I’ll try keyconfig.
