I’m not a huge Trekkie, but I thought it was great.

I think sometimes with films like these the less of a fan you are, the easier it is to like them. (You don’t get nerd rage when something is changed :P)

I thought it was all right while I was watching it, until I realized it was a re-make. I didn’t care for the last one, either, though.

If this is the best JJ can do then I don’t see the new Star Wars films being memorable.

I thought it was great. Could easily be talked into seeing it again.

Loved it. Not as much as I loved the first one (I think that was a pleasant surprise).

It isn’t a remake, it’s an alternate timeline.

I’m not a die-hard Trekker/Trekkie, but there are inconsistencies in the timeline that bugged me, but otherwise it was entertaining. I enjoyed the previous Star Trek (the first of this timeline) more than this one.

I’m not a huge Star Trek fan, but I loved the movie. Especially since Benedict Cumberbatch was the villan :3

Not a Trekkie, but I really enjoyed both of the new ST movies so far.

Big Trekkie (obvi…) and I loved it.

Apart from some obvious timeline discrepancies.

But that’s all dependent on a timeline set by the novels, which the rebooted series has completely ignored. And I was always kind of hoping that those particular novels would be incorporated into a movie of their own.

Just to buck the trend. I’m one of those people who has practically every show of TOS memorized I’ve seen them so many times. I thought the second movie was only fair, and I was eye-rolling at the end. I mean, couldn’t they come up with an original plot?

Although this article is a bit over done, it pretty much my way of thinking.

True that – @Rarebear knows the script and plot of every episode of TOS. It’s kind of freaky when he says the lines as the actors say it, while he is watching an episode.

Rarebear's avatar

@RocketGuy It’s even worse than that. Although I’m old enough to remember Star Trek when it first came out (and saw a few episodes), I only really started watching it in syndication. As the syndication started cutting more and more of the lines out, I’d say, “Wait…Scotty was supposed to say X here!”

That’s why I like the remasters on Netflix so much. They restored the episodes to their original glory.

I give it a 5 on a scale of 10.

I have seen it, and it fulfilled all my expectations.
Those being that it would be complete shit.
If you want to see a better movie, watch Thunderpants.

I just saw it this afternoon. I enjoyed all the nods to the original (the mention of Nurse Chapel), the use of the Tribble, but I thought for people with transporter technology they sure spent a lot of time running down endless corridors.

And it was such a rehash.

Loved Benedict Cumberbatch though!

I saw it, thought it was interesting, but didn’t really come away wowed. I have to say, I’ve liked Cumberbatch in Sherlock and did not like him as Khan. He simply didn’t offer the “superman” look that I would expect for an enhanced human.

I’d still watch these movies, just to continue to follow the series.

lemmy's avatar

I didn’t like it. Star Trek fan who hated it. That’s me.

Kardamom's avatar

Huge trekkie. Multiple O’s for me. Zachary Quinto really became Spock for me. And who knew that Spock could kick ass like that???

Seeing this movie sent me into a day long Google fest looking up pictures of both Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy, plus I found all sorts of neato behind the scenes photos and Youtube clips and interviews from TOS and all the other TV shows and movies

I’m ready to go again!

I just love how you’re openly orgasmic about nerdy things, @Kardamom. I’m such a prude.

Kardamom's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr I really should have worn a pair of depends into that theater, if you know what I mean : P

I saw it again with my daughter yesterday at her request. On second viewing, it didn’t really hold its appeal.

filmfann's avatar

I watched it the other night. What a waste. Bad start (the volcano civilization), followed by a good idea (attack against Star Fleet), followed by complete crap.

Good movie with a surprise villain.
