I’ve heard that once you get pimples or acne at a young age you won’t get them later on when you get older. Is this true?

I think whenever the acne god comes to visit, you’re at his or her mercy. They have their own timetable.
I never had acne, but I would get zits as a teenager. I’m 42 now. I still get zits. Occasionally.
@kimchi Don’t lose hope. When you get older your skin will look much younger than someone that never had acne.
No. I had acne issues as a teen and I still have some. The joys of adult acne. Thank the gods for makeup.
I don’t know. I was lucky as a teen and only had the occasional zit. I had them once in awhile forever but all and all I was blessed with a nice complexion. Hormones have a lot to do with it.
When I was pregnant with my daughter at age 27 I had acne on the backs of my arms of all things! The doctor gave me a creme of some sort and it went away after I gave birth and my hormones calmed down again. Try to stay away from greasy foods and wash your face often if you have an oily complexion.
No. But it might be true that you won’t get wrinkles as easy.
I’m 52 and still vet a brak out every once in a while but I have great skin. I always say it is my reward for having as much acne as a teenager as I did.
Nope.
Personally, I only get zits on my chin from the phone. Or, when my husband touches my chin. It’s probably the bacteria on my skin, and when something presses against the area long enough it gives me a zit. I can prevent it sometimes if I start to feel the zit and put alcohol on it right away.
You generally do not get acne aftr you reach adulthood whether you have had it before or not.
I’m in my late 40s and I worry about zits more than wrinkles, still. I didn’t have very bad acne as a teen, but I always had several zits on my face.
No. I did not have any skin problems in teen years or early 20’s. Started getting zits in mid-20’s and still have them 10 years later.

@marinelife Depends on what you mean by “generally.” 1 in 5 adult women have acne, and many many more have occasional breakouts or single zits from time to time. It’s very common.
Dermatologists will confirm that most teens with acne do not suffer from the problem later in life, except on rare occasion. Those with acne should wash the face with soap throughout the day and never, ever touch their face.
@Kraigmo If I washed my face with soap, my skin would be dry as the Sahara within the hour. Acne caused by bad hygiene can be easily cured by washing. Unfortunately, hygiene is not usually the problem.
