Hey guys, I'm 19 thinking of moving up here to good ole San Fran what things should I take into consideration before moving?
Right now I'm living in Fresno, yeck! haha and this week I'm up here visiting my brother. Yesterday he mentioned that I should move up here since he knows I've been wanting to for a while. I'm just wondering what things I should prepare for or think about before taking the plunge.

Firstly if you really what to move to San Fran, you should. Keep in mind that San Fran is a bit more expensive and has more people. See if you can bunk with your brother initially so that you can save a bew bucjs
1. Emotional Commitment - know why you're doing it
2. Think about your finances - either be willing to live with less entertainment money or simply make more (simple right?)
3. Make a list of all the accounts that have your current address so you can change them in one fail swoop
4. Forward your mail to the new address
5. Start networking with people in SF so you can transition into some local work opportunities
6. Set a move date and work backwards with all the things you need to accomplish

filty streets. out of control aggressive bums. decadence everywhere. winter in summer.
if you need to be in that area, i suggest somewhere nearby. that way you can swoop in, hit some clubs or whatever, and return to sanity. i used to live in martinez. very nice.
sf is awesome. this comes from someone who has actually *lived* there. that said, rent is getting more expensive, having a car is a huge pain (parking!!) and the job market is tight.
Unless you have a really good salary, you should be prepared to live with roommates. Most young people here have at least 2 or 3 roommates, since that's pretty much the only way to pay the bills. Craigslist.org will become your best resource in the Bay Area--you can use it to find housing, find furniture, find jobs, and even find dates. You probably want to look for housing in neighborhoods where other young people live: The Mission, Lower Haight, etc. Good luck!
Thanks everyone for all your valuable input!!! :)
