People have varying sex drives. If you never feel the need to masturbate, don’t worry, you are not alone.

As @bookish1 said there are people all over the place in the sex drive scale. I have a close friend who says he never masturbates and probably hasn’t had sex in a couple years. He says he just doesn’t think about sex really and would rather be doing other stuff.

@lemmy I’d love to be in your camp. After all, self pleasuring is frowned upon even though most humans do it. It’s embarrassing to get caught mid wank. Unfortunately, for me, even as I approach my 70s, I need to let the steam off at least once a week or I start getting distracted by the drive.

I think people create a stigma around not masturbating to counter the stigma that exists around masturbating itself, almost as if they have to prove that masturbating isn’t “shameful”. Obviously I don’t agree that it is “shameful” and I think the stigma around it is absurd, but the stigma also has immense power. I don’t masturbate much myself, maybe once a week or so. When I was around 16, though, I was doing it once a day. But that was before I had ever had sex (and realized how superior it is to masturbation).

The question, “How do you please yourself?” is its own self-referential answer. You please yourself in ways that please you…no other meanings obtain, including the opinions of anyone else.

The thing here is, I love sex, if I’m in a relationship, 3 times a week average.. if I’m not, at least once a month (please lol).
