Swimming Precautions before and after?

So, I’m going on a family trip to a waterpark and the beach. I know that both chlorine and salt water can damage hair, I’m African American. I heard of rinsing hair before entering the pool, any other things like conditioning before entering? Please answer it would mean a lot.
