What were you doing on July 20, 1969?

I was 9 and a half years old, most likely running around the neighborhood on a hot summer night playing with my friends. Just after my mother interupted my play a few weeks before with the damn moon walk.
Really? Do you think I care? Do not call me in to witness history! lol

I didn’t exist. My mother was 5.

I was 13. My parents were having a barbecue with friends, and I was glued to the television watching the greatest accomplishment of man during my lifetime.
Some people say it was faked, and I will tell you they are idiots. It still brings tears to my eyes.

We were at my parents house, my 9-year old son, my 4-year old daughter and me. All of us were piled on my parents’ king-sized bed glued to the TV. A moment of huge portent.

I was not yet 5 years old, but me and my dad and my brother were huddled around a small black and white TV in my brother’s bedroom (with a cool bunk bead that had STP stickers and Moon Eye stickers and peace sign stickers stuck to the bottom of the top bunk) I remember it as being really early in the morning and my mom was still asleep. We thought it was awesome, in the literal translation of that word, that a man from earth had set foot on the moon. My brother was able to meet Buzz Aldrin a couple of years ago, and got an autograph, what an awesome event!!! I feel blessed to have witnessed that event.

I was living in Boston’s North End. I didn’t own a TV, not for many years. My boyfriend and I were sitting around smoking weed and listening to music that night. Late in the evening we went out, probably looking for something to feed the munchies. We passed by one of those little cafes on Hanover Street and saw a small crowd of men staring at a small black and white TV up on a shelf. They were all excited. “They’re walking on the moon!” From the doorway, we saw the first moon steps. In our state of mind, we were super-thrilled by it. Wow! was all we could say.

At least, that’s the way I remember it. Maybe it didn’t happen that way at all.

I was a preschooler. My parents splurged and bought a 13” black & white television for the event. That was our first and only TV until 1981, when they got divorced and we were teens and cable TV came to the area. I don’t really remember watching it. I’m not even sure what the time was on the easy coast when they landed… I may have been asleep.

Nothing. I was born in ‘84.

Oh, well, maybe it was afternoon, even though in my memory it was dark. It was a Sunday, so I wouldn’t have been at work during the day. Or am I remembering the launch on the 16th and not the walking? I think I remember the walking, and the radio voice with the historic message. Wow, anyway.

I was in CA. and it was about 8–8:30 p.m. prime play time at dusk. lol

I wasn’t born until 1971.

Wasn’t around, wouldn’t be for another 13 years. But my dad was around, and he was always a space freak. He told me that during the moon landing, him and his buddies were at a bar, watching the event on TV.

I was 21. I was in the den of my parent’s house watching the television with them. I remember looking out the window at the moon, which was either a full moon or close to being so. I kept switching my gaze back and forth from the moon outside to the television image of it, trying in vain to reconcile the two.

I was walking across the mess deck of the USS Hairy Yarnhole.

I was more interested in my eventual escape from involuntary servitude, which was still about 3 years away.

I was 18 years old and I filmed the event on the TV set as my friend ran through the house screaming “WE DID IT!!!!” over and over.

Starting my first advertising job in Dallas. I’m not sure my boss or most of my peers knew much more about copywriting than I did!

Seven years old. Can’t remember exactly, but I was probably running around lighting things on fire with my collection of stolen match books.

This is one of my favorite television memories. I remember watching this with my parents and being amazed by the whole idea. I’ve wanted to try space travel ever since.

I was only 2 years old, but remember it like it was yesterday, watching it on TV, with the late, great Walter Cronkite, announcing in the background. My father was in the aerospace industry, so anything that dealt with space, was big in my house.

I was not even exist in this beautiful world yet….

I wasn’t quite two years old yet, and have no memory of the occasion.

I was stationed on board a hospital ship off the coast of Vietnam.
