This week it was revealed that “The Cuckoo’s Calling” was written by Harry Potter author JK Rowling under an assumed name.
Have you read it?
Will you read it now?
If you have read it, what did you think?

Not yet, and thanks for inform me of another JK Rowling’s book
No and I probably won’t. It’s not the sort of book I generally read.
It’s very rare since the secret got out. They disappeared from book stores overnight.
I hadn’t heard of the book before it came out that JK wrote it, but now I’m definitely gonna get it on my Kindle and read it. I adore her.
@YARNLADY i wonder why that is. Seems like a great marketing boost.
@Supacase As I understand it, JKR is very unhappy about the secret being revealed. This was not a marketing ploy, but someone who knew telling the wrong person.
@chyna I have not read it yet. It received warm reviews before her involvement was known.
@YARNLADY is correct. You can’t find it in the stores right now, but this may cause a surge in kindle downloads.
@Mariah I adore her as well, but I am having trouble getting through “The Casual Vacancy”.
Pretty amusing story here . It refers to the difficulty of getting a story published.
I like mysteries, and since it’s been well received on its own merits I’ll probably give it a try when the hype has died down. There’s no rush. I’ll wait for a library copy.
I gave up on The Casual Vacancy about 100 pages in. There wasn’t a single character I liked, and books that run to excess in the matter of gritty, revolting detail don’t give me what I’m looking for when I read. I have no interest in sticking my head inside a befouled garbage can in the back alley of an urban ghetto, even if I can’t help knowing it’s there.
Postscript: I just added it to my library request list. I’m number 169 in line for it. The last time I drew a high number, it was in the thirties.
