What are the effects of having a poor diet in my school years (Details inside)?
For instance… I would have frosted flakes or honeycombs sugar serial, pop tarts or instant oatmeal for breakfast with little water, but lots of milk and pop, ( 1 can of cola for breakfast).
School lunch : Thrown in garbage and I buy a one liter container of milk and a hoagie or video games if I felt like going to class.
Supper my dad and I would go to a buffet or order pizza…
Thursdays Sports bar chicken wings 100 per person and a pitcher of cola each.
Summers when living with my grandfather we ate healthy, home made stew, cantaloupe and grapefruit, .. no pop, take out. One dinner at a buffet house for my birthday. One glass of milk a day.
Nighttime snack can of oysters or sardines in soya oil with bread.

I’m not sure that there would be any residual effects from a crappy diet when you were in school. Maybe I’m wrong. It does happen occasionally. :0)
I never ate breakfast, still don’t. Once I got to high school I started eating crap for lunch, if I ate at all. Dinner was always healthy because my mom doesn’t believe in pre packaged food. Everything from scratch.
Not many kids have clean diets. Cereal, pop-tarts, fast food, school lunches – it’s what kids eat. I wouldn’t worry about it.
I wouldn’t worry about it much either. But, to more directly answer your question, some of it matters what your genes are like, and also other healthy or not healthy things you were doing at the time. If you exercise it probably helped a little, if you smoke, it hurt you more. Your diet would make my cholesterol high, assuming you are not drinking skim milk, but I have cholesterol problems. Any cholesterol in, adds to my number, while other people can eat a diet ridden with cholesterol and their numbers stay good.
By the way, I ate poorly in college too, and beyond for that matter, so I figure it added to whatever is laying in my arteries clogging me up.

Actually that’s not really that bad. Going hungry is what hurts.
I’d take heart in the fact that kids are to some extent resilient? Not all of us were raised in a healthy way. Once we understand good nutrition though it is our responsibility to try and change it. I know it’s not easy as I have come through a phase of being undernourished. At my age now I feel as though I did not just get away with it.
I find food interesting and how it can affect the mind and body.
