MYTH! It’s just releasing the gas in the joint area between your bones. The pop/crack sound you hear is from the suction.

It feels soooo nice! I’m a compulsive popper. :/

It’s not gas. It is synovial fluid. Guessing doesn’t count.

@ gailcalled : You’re wrong, my friend. It IS the gas being released (http://health.howstuffworks.com/question437.htm) FROM the synovial fluid. If the fluid was being released, you’d be in extreme pain. Check out how stuff works. :D

there’s no damage. nothing is torn or removed or stretched. Gas just pops out. :/ like a joint fart.
