Why do you imagine somebody threw green paint on the Lincoln Memorial?

Somebody threw green paint on statue and base of the Lincoln Memorial.

I don’t get it. It is a really pretty sculpture, and a memorial to a guy that presided over an acute national crisis, saw it through to that he believed was correct, and then got murdered for his trouble.

If you could ask the person, and if they answered truthfully, what do you suppose the answer would be?
