It seems possible, but how do you do it?

First, make sure your email client (Gmail web page if you’re not using POP, which if you don’t know what it is, then you’re not using it and therefore don’t need to care) sends HTML mail instead of plain-text. Gmail does this by default so you’re probably ok.

Next, if you’re embedding a Youtube video, click on the Share tab on the video’s page, click on Embed underneath it, copy the code that appears underneath (already highlighted) and paste it into your email. If the recipient of your email is viewing the mail on a browser, then the embed should Just Work.
If you’re embedding a video from elsewhere than Youtube you’ll need to follow their instructions for embedding. If it’s your own video you can’t easily embed it (I know this might seem insultingly obvious, and I’m sorry if it is- but I have no idea how much you know about this stuff!) but you can try to upload it somewhere (like Youtube for example) and embed from there. If you have your own server you can install a Web server and some media management software like MediaGoblin and host it that way.

Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Thanks everyone but it seems with the new version of Gmail you can just drag and drop an MP4 file. It takes a while to upload but it couldn’t be easier.

I simply go to the video site, copy the address then at the bottom of the mail find the little chain (which is invisible until you hover next to the ’+’ where send is) then paste the link.. be sure to also name it.. I don’t know if the newer version has this but the one I’m using works fine. In the new version (16.0.1196.73) there’s no option for this that I can find and that’s why I’m still using version 12.16 which has this option. One other thing, I keep receiving a 30 day notice that iGoogle will close out at the end of October and there will be no more choices as to the browser to use.. this I fear will run off many of the percentages that use Gmail because version 16.0 totally sux!!

These are my own videos so there is no link I can give. I don’t know what Google are playing at but I noticed the links to Google news and Google translate have disappeared from the site. I emailed Google about this just 30 minutes ago.
