I am also cutting out all sodas, white flour and sugar and alcohol.
It’s calories in calories out. Chicken breast has less calories than thighs though. I don’t know how much you weigh now, but I wouldn’t go less than 1200 calories a dau without a doctors supervision.
It is probably better to eat more often and choose healthy meals to speed up your metabolism. Our bodies grab onto sparse meals and store them for later, which turns to fat stores. If you had a chicken breast how was it cooked? Was the skin removed? (since that is very high in fat). Also if you ate yoghurt was it fat free?
The basic rules are:
Cooking methods – avoid frying and choose lean meat with no fat or skin.
Frequency – eat three meals a day with two healthy snacks thrown in (fruit or other)
(A glass of orange juice could use up all the fruit you need)
Reduce salt intake increase water intake
Portion control – protein should be the size of your fist, vegetables that are steamed or boiled unlimited.
Reduce carb intake at night
Variety of foods – if your meal is colorful it is normally balanced
Other dietary facts: Protein is not necessarily found only in meat. There are other options out there.
All meals should have vegetable and salads as the focus.
Read labels, some so called health foods are laden with fats and sugars. Check if you have a wheat or gluten intolerance which can lead to weight gain amongst other issues. The side effects include bloating, weight gain, flatulence and discomfort before eating. There can also be a candida a proliferation in the body.
Candida can cause, yeast infections of the toes, genitals and skin. Systemic candida can cause depression, anxiety and confusion. Candida thrives on sugar and starch.
If you don’t exercise then walk or walk a dog, fly a kite, take the stairs.
Its not as simple as this.
What are your other meals? What kinds of activity does your day consist of?
By cutting out flour, sugar, and alcohol, you are doing wonderful things for your body.
What will happen is your body will sense the lowering of calories and all, and it will begin trying to conserve. You will have to do some exercising. Good luck, and congratulations on a great start!
You’re cutting out the most harmful and fattening foods, so I would say yes. Make sure your intake of dietary fibre increases also—it’s just as important. And this means eating whole fruits, and not juices.
