Would buying a bike stand better than getting a dedicated stationary bike?

Prioritizing getting a stand for a bike that I have yet to purchase so I can use it indoors too. Question I have is, that may sound more practical but attaching a regular bike to a stand, could there be setbacks compared to using a dedicated stationary bike-? Thank you.
PS – Can you also recommend bike models and stand brands that go along well-?
