Lately, what have you turned to to relax?
Engrossed in a t.v. series? Up all in a good book? A new video game? Gardening?
I’ve been a bit stressed. To relax, 2 hour nature walks; learning about aquariums and checking out aquarium set-ups on youtube; and revisiting Zelda’s Twilight Princess. Lame, I know. :)

I have a eye rest mask that goes in the microwave for about 10 seconds, then over my eyes for about 15 minutes. It is very soothing and relaxing.
I watch the video games from my childhood played on YouTube… so I can finally know the endings.
I know the feeling. I have been using YouTube a lot lately. I really like ‘The Honest Guys’ set of meditations and relaxation videos. Some are for healing some for stress and also insomnia. Their voices are soothing and the music or sea sounds they use are so relaxing.
I also enjoy some of the scene videos with rain and birds and trees. It is like my own little window looking out onto the world onto any scene I wish. I find nature very soothing.
Reading books and cooking. Time away from other people.
My pillows and sleep. I’ve been under the weather for 25 days now.
I started watching Orange is The New Black. Nine episodes in and it is fantastic. But that isn’t from stress.
I don’t really get stressed. My life is easy. No car, no kids, no mortgage, no problems.
(I’m working on the second Fused Shadow, and I’ve also started Ocarina of Time for the eighty-billionth time)
When I’m not dorking out in front of a glowing box, I read, cook, or recently, ride my bike. Been too blerched to do that the last couple of days, though.
I’m working with a naturopath. I have melatonin and I’m cutting back caffeine. Also changed the times of some of my bio identical hormones. Tonight’s the first night. It’s 9:16 now. Feeling kind of tired and hoping I will sleep tonight. Didn’t sleep much last night.
Love that idea @talljasperman. Was that an early Mario playing referee for Mike Tyson Punchout Game?
I cannot believe I found my favorite games Tempest, Battlezone, and Asteroids Deluxe. Amazing!
Journaling, playing games (currently, Apollo Justice and Animal Crossing New Leaf), and cooking (made creamy tomato soup this weekend and just finished the last serving of it today—delicious!) I’m unemployed and in between schools, so I get anxiety waiting for the next phases to fall into place.
Playing Newer Super Mario Bros Wii. It is a hack of New Super Mario Bros Wii made using Reggie level editor.
It kicks ass. I like it a lot more than the original. Way more fun. The team that did it created 8 new bosses, over 120 new levels, new map, new music, new backgrounds and more. I recommend it.
Kingdoms of Amalur. It’s one of em epic fantasy game where you talk to peasants and do all their bidding, and even though they’re all dirt poor, they give you like 500,000 gold pieces once you rid their garden of ancient demons. Game has a generic story, all the dungeons look the same, and since I pounded most of my skill points into blacksmithing, none of what I find in the game can surpass the weapons and armor I forge for myself. Also, my guy is this big huge Viking fucker with a hammer.
I mean the game probably can’t compare to stuff like Skyrim, but…it’s so…fucking addicting! I lose myself in it. It’s also really pretty looking, so even if I killed everything in a dungeon and I’m forced to trek all the way back with nothing happening…I can check out mushrooms and skeletons and shit, it’s awesome. :D I hope the game never ends. :)
But when it does, I still have 5 classes I haven’t tried yet…
listen to sweet slow relaxing music :) works all the time
Aquariums are great for that. They mellow me out completely. Or great art. And that’s always in the eye of the beholder so just go with what you like.
I try to quiet my mind and feel out an awareness/connection with a “higher self/infinite source.” Sometimes I get a flood of good, contented feeling.
My naturopath suggested “breath counting.” Take slow deep breaths. Count them. Every time you lose count start counting back at “one.” This will help clear your mind of extraneous thoughts and bring you back into your body.
I have joined a nearby gym centre. I exercise for 2 to 3 hours daily and it has helped me in reducing stress.
