Have you ever "discovered" a musical group that's been around for a long time and wondered "How did I miss this?"?

My discoveries of the last few years:
Leonard Cohen. I became aware of him over the last couple years, and saw him this past February. When I mention him to friends, it’s as if half the women I know were listening to him when we were all in college but most guys my age have no clue about him.
Nick Drake. Never heard of him until about five years ago, the woman I was seeing loves his music, and had him in her collection for a long time. As I started listening to him, it was as if I was the only one who wasn’t familiar with him.
Apparently Muse had been around for a while, before I discovered them on the Twilight soundtrack. I’ve been in love with their music ever since.
@hearkat I was just uploading this pic to ask the same. Guess the answer would be yes…
I’m seeing it also. How did he manage to do that?
How did he manage to do that?
The dark ones chose me to be their vessel
That’s creepy. It looks like alien hieroglyphs.
@Judi It probably is. “All your Fluther are belong to us!”
@WillWorkForChocolate , you can say that, but I won’t believe it until @ragingloli says so. She’s the only real alien on fluther.. She needs to interpret this for us.
Yes, I discovered Queen after the death of Freddie Mercury.
I rediscovered most of the Motown groups years later after disliking them when they were first out.
Eve 6. After they broke up.
Every Avenue. They broke up right after I found them.
Coldplay. After they broke up.
The bands I like always break up :(
@AshLeigh Coldplay hasn’t broken up. They are putting out music for the new Hunger Games movie. Here are the lyrics.
Got my hopes up for a minute…
Dang Mr Huntington… I see it too. Idslike a little sinkhole on the internet. Did you tap another dimension sir?
Odd that the first line in your link song is:
“We came to wreck everything, and ruin your life. God sent us.”
Odd that your link works even hidden behind that vortex you discovered. Spooky Man!
Genocide Organ
I just tried to replicate your experiment. Let’s see.
_____
Hmmm… Nope.
Wait @Michael_Huntington… How did you get the extra underscores behind your Genocide Organ link? I tried spaces and underscore but neither of them look like yours.
@zenvelo, did they break up for a while? I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen anything new in a long time.
I’m not really into them anymore, anyways though. So maybe I was misinformed, and never really looked into it.
Dream Theater, and the whole genre of Deep House/Lounge.
Okay let me tell you how I did it. I—

This is so strange!! This time it’s not red!
I recently discovered Coldplay and Adele. I love them both.
Yes, Iron Maiden last week. They are awesome.
Amon Amarth
These guys are great! My son actually told me about them.
I really hesitate, but here it is: Old Crow Medicine Show

I was doing a little researching on the song “Wagon Wheel” after seeing Darius Rucker doing it on Letterman.
What I discovered was fascinating. The lead singer, Ketch Secor shares writing credits with Bob Dylan on the song. Evidently he and his childhood friend were big big fans of Dylan and discovered the chorus of the song on an old Dylan bootleg (from Germany I think).
So Ketch kind of fleshed it out with the main lyrics, contacted Dylan etc. and for years this was kind of the signature song for OCMS even tho not widely known.
So, I guess Darius wanted a change after Hootie and…
So I starter listening to more of their stuff. They’re really good musicians and even tho there’s that nasally sound in the singing, that’s pretty typical of some Bluegrass groups.
But they’re not strictly Bluegrass but that’s probably the part that turns people off. They’re pretty eclectic and write a lot of their own songs.
Anyhow, I like ‘em even if nobody else does :)
@Buttonstc . . . Tennessee Pusher is an outstanding album.
It happened to me this summer when I discovered Disclosure It turned out that they become huge in 2012 and I only heard about them in 2013.
@Buttonstc OCMS is one of my secret pleasures, since I loved their whole first album, but friends just never gave them a chance.
