Which room in your home is the heart of the house?

Asked by LornaLove (10037points) August 15th, 2013

Mine has to be the kitchen. A lot goes on in there, I experiment with new recipes (particularly lately as I am on a healthy eating adventure). Nice cups of herb tea are made endlessly, I have a little table and chairs where we sit and chat, the door is always open onto the garden and bees and other insects are welcome.

There are plants on the windowsill and a red lamp for evenings to make it cosy. I also have a lovely candle burner, which is quite oriental in appearance and omits a blue light as the candle burns.

It just kind of happened this way. Which room is the heart of your home and why?

It’s not called the living room for nothing.

sorry, I couldn’t resist

Two hearts: my kitchen which is my social room and my bedroom which is my sanctuary. I really only need those two rooms.

The heart of my home is the back deck area; most of my evenings are spent there enjoying an expansive night sky.

My home office and my TV room, in equal measure.

The family room. It’s why I don’t want a formal living room ever again. Waste of space. My last house in FL the family room had a triple sliding glass door out to the screened in patio and pool and I always felt like I could be in or out, it was like one big space. That was my favorite and happiest time in a house.

The kitchen, as I put love into food there and we love our food! I really can’t forget the bedroom, because a lot of loving happens there :).

Ours is whichever room that Mrs. Apple happens to be in at the moment…

Ours is the living room.

Our kitchen’s connected to the dining room, which leads to the back patio. That whole area is definitely where we do all our chatting, homework, family meetings, meals, etc. I’d say that was the ‘brain’ of the home.

Our TV room is where we relax and just enjoy each others’ company. That’s the ‘heart.’

The kitchen, for sure. It is our primary entry, as the cars are parked out back, plus my sweetie is a gourmand, so we spend much of our time planning meals and discussing food.

The master bath. Everything that really matters here passes through there. It is there that we purge off the grime and slime, leaving us clean to face a new day.

The room which has the computers in it.

I live in a studio apartment… So, yeah.

The living room, followed by my bedroom. It used to be my deck…an outdoor room for months out of the year.

We have a kitchen/ family room combination with a sliding glass door that leads to an enclosed patio (California Room) and our pool. (generic picture) The TV is in here, along with my recliner and laptop, two bookcases full of kids toys, a full size table and a kid size table.

The kitchen. The pc is already there.

We mostly use our smartphones and tablets, and even our laptops are portable, so the tech does not tie us to a particular room.

Our house is mostly open, so the dining room, kitchen, and living room are all combined. I think I’d have to say that that’s the heart of our house. It’s busy, but at the end of the day, we’re all there for each other, and that’s what counts.

Our kitchen, for sure. While we spend a lot more time in other rooms, all the really good talks happen in the kitchen.
