I just ordered a fruit basket for myself for food... has anyone else done this?
In my quest to be a better shut in I ordered myself a $80 fruit basket (delivery included) with my double Mozza and Teen burger and pop… I can’t be the only one who has thought of this, but I never realized I could. Anyway do you have and tips and tricks to get stuff delivered to me so I don’t have to go to far outside beyond my front door? P.S. I get a huge pineapple as a center piece, and 24 hours delivery. I could use 3x fruit of the loom boxers and briefs, size 13 – 16 comfy summer socks and some 3x large t-shirts… Where is a spammer when we need one?

I know when I was at the depths of my mental illness, getting out of the house was the last thing I wanted to do, but it was also the most important thing for me. I went to the coffee shop and sat by myself. Some days, passing the money to the cashier was the only social interaction I had.
Now, go take a shower and go walk around the block.
If that’s too tall an order, take a shower and put on your shoes and stand in the yard.
Still too much? Take a shower.
Best of luck to you.
I don’t even know where you live! How could I order you a basket of food?
It sounds like a nice idea, though.
But to be at least a little bit helpful, I would advise against “learning to be a good shut-in”. Yeah, you can do it, but it’s not going to be an enjoyable long-term occupation. Practice taking walks instead; in twenty years you’ll be much happier having done that than having “learned to be a shut-in”.
@CWOTUS I promise it won’t take @talljasperman twenty years to be happier learning to take walks. He’ll feel better in mere months.
What? 80 bucks for fruit?
I kind of want to throw up a little.
You want underwear and socks and shirts delivered to your door. Any specific kinds or brands? See if a superstore nearby has the ones you want. It’s not that much of a trip and it’s probably going to be less expensive.
I have also shut myself away for long periods. Don’t do it, instead do what @Hawaii_Jake suggested. Even if you cannot walk outside yet, have a shower. Then walk around the block. You can do it, you will feel better for it instantly. Small achievements go a long way to getting better.
I really think braving the outdoors is the better option in the long run..the longer you avoid the outdoors the more normal it becomes and then you reach the point of actual agoraphobia. I wish you luck and think you can do it if you put your mind to it; and I’m here if you want to talk. Anytime.
I would check to see if any of your supermarkets deliver, it would be much cheaper probably. Or, there could be a service that delivers groceries.
If there is any chance you can brave going out, you can avoid big crowds by going very early in the morning or late at night.
Good for you, @talljasperman, ordering that fruit basket! I think it was a fine idea, and if you’re enjoying the fruit, it’s a SENSATIONAL idea.
Do you like movies? A Netflix DVD subscription is cheap, and a streaming subscription, which lets you watch movies right on your TV, is even cheaper.
Some of the amazon.com grocery items are reasonably priced if you have amazon prime and get free shipping.
From your other questions, I know you have a very limited budget. $80 on a fruit basket was probably not the wisest investment.
@Judi it was an impulse buy, from a sense of adventure, I am looking for work at A&W as a part time cook ( I made it to the pre-screen phase). I celebrated my return in to the job market with a letter from the military to try again when I was more competitive .
@talljasperman Hooray! I wish you the best of luck with your job interview at A&W.
See if your grocery store delivers. I also buy food and clothing and even electronics from walmart.com . If you spend enough you get free shipping and they’re fast ! To say nothing of all the clothing I’ve ordered from ebay.com . But mine is all out of laziness.
