Hebrew-speaking jellies: how do you pronounce the names Baruch Agadati and Gurit Kadman?

Agadati sounds Arabic, but I can take a shot at how it would be pronounced in Hebrew.

Using the IPA for Hebrew, Baruch Agadati is /baˈʁuχ agaˈdati/ and Gurit Kadman is /guˈrit kadˈman/.

My semi-informed guess…
BAH-rooch [the ch is guttural] AH-GAH-DAH-TEE
GOO-REET kahd-MAHN

So, does Hebrew have both a /ʁ/ and a /r/ ? Your Baruch example uses /ʁ/ and Gurit uses /r/.

@2davidc8 Sorry, I meant to use /ʁ/ in ”/guˈʁit/”. Hebrew does have both /ʁ/ and /r/, and usage mainly depends on dialect. I tend to use /ʁ/ in names.

These are names which also have meaning: Baruch, is to bless, e.g.

The name Baruch has the emphasis (accentuation, stress) on the second syllable.

However, someone with this this once common name would be called, familially, Baruch – with the accent on the first. Baa rooch. (ch being the phlegm sound sometimes written phonetically as KH)

Ba – rooch A-Ga-Da-tea.

Goo-reet (little puppy or cub) Kad mun.
