Take half a crisp baguette, slather it generously with beurre des Charentes then add lots of raw milk Camembert. Cotes du Rhone on the side .

Grilled cheese with a slice of ham in the middle. A BLT rocks-my-socks too.

blte(gg) is awesome too. i prefer rare roast beast with brie. a nice cuban or reuben is also good. or anything on a bagel. man, i’m hungry!

It’s a toss up between the chicken salad sandwich from the Rhineland Deli in Thousand Oaks, California and the Ruben at Jason’s Deli in Omaha.

Prosciutto in brown bread, w/ dry tomatoes, mushrooms and roman lettuce, a lil bit of aceto and pepper :)

Good question, I’m having trouble deciding between:

1. Pastrami on rye with sauerkraut, mustard & swiss cheese from Katz’s Deli in NYC

2. Roast beef on a sourdough roll with mayo, Dijon, provolone, garden-fresh tomatoes, romaine, thinly-sliced red onion, peperoncinis, and avocado. Homemade.

A wish sandwich.
That’s when you have two slices of bread and you wish you had something to put inside.

@ banjo: Did you mean this?

playthebanjo's avatar

Any one with wonderful bread and grilled fresh veggies inside. If it has Portobello mushroom and grilled onions, even better. An interesting tangy, spicy sauce and perhaps a slice of aged cheese or REAL Italian mozzarella (not the tasteless stuff they sell here)

AstroChuck's avatar

Portobellos. Mmmmmmmmm!

Fried egg and bacon on buttered and toasted jalapeno cheese bread.

@flameboi: what are dry tomatoes and aceto

breakfast (veggie) sausage on toast with grape jelly is delicious. a fried egg is optional.

Multi-cheese on rye or soda bread. Use spread-cheese instead of butter and slices of 2–3 different cheeses, possibly with a little bit of plum or apricot jam/conserve.

Toasted peanut butter and fluff on oatnut….YUMMY!

Schenectandy's avatar

I like all the salad kinds.. egg salad is my current fave. With a nice bowl of tomato soup & elbow noodles.

Hmm.. I guess grilled cheese with bread & butter pickles right on the sandwich is pretty good too!

@thebeadholder- oh yes -fluffernutter too!

Or a slice of leftover, tomatoey homemade meatloaf cold on an onion bagel.

Or a hard roll with salami and giardinera..

OK, time for dinner over here…

@pupntaco: Your #1 is my Saturday lunch. Since I’m there tomorrow, shall I send you one? Or should I “send a salami to your boy in the army”? Sorry if no one else gets the Katz’s reference.

PupnTaco's avatar

I gotta get back to Katz’s, nothing like it!

breedmitch's avatar

Tell you what, I’ll send you a pastrami from Katz’, and you send me anything from your famous grill.
BTW: anybody who goes to Katz’ in NYC, be sure to tip your carver. You’ll get a leaner sandwich and a free “taste” while in line.
