Oh, I like the color added to it! But not the ziggy babies behind the bug. That was cool, though, all the little mantises on it. But the silhouette is perfect as it is.

The color popped out by itself when I played with the brightness and contrast, actually. I’m colorblind, I avoid playing with colors when it comes to photo editing.

I would… keep at it. Try different angles, different bracketing with the exposure to get more or less backlighting / silhouetting (or more foreground light to show the beast better), closer, alternate composition.

Right now you have a snapshot with some promise. “Photography” is when you make a shot that is exactly what was intended. This is a nice start, now it’s “practice, practice, practice.”
