Do you take your Flutherage offline or just reserve it for Fluther?
Standing around or waiting in a lobby, to check out, etc, I pick up a US, People, Star magazine, etc, and they are talking about this star that looks unflattering in this, another celebrity’s fashion gaff, who didn’t lose the baby weight, who has a “beach body” and who doesn’t, and the numerous red carpet fashion policing. Do you get annoyed at those comments and interest, (which is more than not geared at women) and write or email the editors or publishers stating maybe they should stop it and focus on something else, or do you reserve that sort of Flutherage for Fluther only? If you don’t take the publisher of such magazines, (or even TV media shows), to task on it why not?

Because the best way to complain is not to read them—which I don’t.
They know who’s buying their magazines, and they know what their audience likes to read about. Celebrity gossip, fashion, and diet “secrets.” If someone wants to read about news or politics, they’re buying a different magazine. Writing a letter isn’t going to accomplish a thing. Those magazines exist because there are people that enjoy them.
I can happily say that not only have I never bought one of those things, I have never read one, either.
Why do you associate ti with Fluther?
As long as the brainless idiots that enjoy that garbage have money, they will continue to publish them, no matter how many people complain. Like everything else, as long as there’s demand, there will be supply. The unwashed hordes want to read that shit, and are more than happy to fork over a few bucks to do so. Money in the bank for the publishers. It will never stop, short of legislation against it, which of course is unthinkable considering the profits involved.
I never read that kind of rubbish to begin with.

GLAD YOU ASKED, from my observation, which I know most don’t care for, but you asked so here it goes, many people who would not buy, waste time reading, or care for those subjects do so on Fluther than rage or get annoyed that the question exist. Especially when, like in the supermarket, doctor’s office, etc, they can simply choose not to click on and ignore it; the same way they avoid picking up the copy of Star and flipping through the pages.
