If I jog too early will I become uneasy?

Asked by Obscurethinktank (135points) August 24th, 2013

I’ve been getting up on weekends to jog at 7:00 AM. Since I’ve been doing this, I’ve felt in a state of unrest, I haven’t had the energy to do many things, or even keep up my jogging. I walk about a mile home from school every day, but that seems easy. It’s just the simplest tasks are the hardest. Can anyone tell my why?

Are you eating enough and staying energized? What is your dietary intake like? What is your sleep schedule like? These are additional aspects that you should monitor when entering a new exercise routine. We might be able to give you more direction with some further information.

@Obscurethinktank Welcome to Fluther. It’s always a delight to have a new member who’s equally dedicated to keeping physically fit. I hate to answer in such technical terms, but there’s no simple way to put this.

If what you are doing doesn’t work, do something else.

I know that’s incredibly profound and grasping its full significance and how to apply same will take much contemplation under a Bodhi tree. If there are no Bodhi Trees growing close by, I am told that Ginkgo Biloba and Walnut Trees work too. Good luck on the incredible meditative journey that resolving this will require.

But look at the bright side. In the short time you have been here with us, you’ve already identified one Fluther member whose delight in the absurd means that lots of his answers need to be sent on a 7:00 AM Jog to nowhere. One might even be running right alongside you tomorrow morning.

You might want to get some fuel (food) in you and wait a few hours and then try.

And ETpro is right. Mix it up until you find what is right for you. We are all different. And you are more likely to stick with something that doesn’t make you feel like shit.

I wonder if you’re sleeping enough. To get a full 8 hours sleep before getting up at 7am you need to go to bed no later than 11pm. Earlier, if your sleep is not usually full and deep.

As already suggested get enough sleep, and make sure you are eating the right foods for energy. I found that sometimes taking a short 20 to 30 minute nap in the afternoon helps raise my energy. Be sure that you are also well hydrated. Dehydration will live you feeling like you are dragging a tug boat through mud all day.

I tried jogging… but running to nowhere just seems pointless to me.

Now, after I see my kid on the school bus, I hop on my bicycle and head to the grocery store to pick up whatever I’m going to cook for dinner. Depending on how I feel or the weather (it can get really hot really early here) I’ll choose the five mile round trip or the grocery further away – an eight mile round trip. That one involves crossing a major artery, so it’s not for foggy days.

I get an hour or so to myself, get my cardio in, building strength in my legs… and not spending so much in petrol on quick trips to the store.
