Complete the phrase: "It stuck to him like..."?
The only thing I can think of is stuck like glue. There must be something better. It would be a helpful metaphor for a reputation, a friendship, group loyalty, or the way that Christianity views sins as sticking to the soul.

The old expressions (clichés) are:
like white on rice
and
like stink on shit
But since those are clichés, we should come up with something new. Maybe you want a better image than that second one, anyway. Better than “like a hungry dog on a bone”, too.
Shit probably isn’t going to help someone explaining Christian views. How about “Stink on a pig”?
@Katniss My second thought was stink on the Sabres.
@Adirondackwannabe Really? That’s hilarious because MY second thought was “stink on the Penguins”.
How about Whine on Sid? Or can it be her? It stuck like skank on Miley?
Hahahaha!! Yes! Ugly on Malkin?
@Katniss Ouch. Remind me not to mess with you.
I appreciate your answers, but I want something with a more positive connotation. Telling a friend I will stick with you like stink on a pig, is not quite what I am looking for.
@LostInParadise The negative comes easy. How about Class on Hepburn or Gable?
I was going to say like a wet swimsuit to my dick, but that doesn’t sound like what you want.
How about like honey to a child’s face?
Like cats on mice, like spots on dice, like cold on ice.
like starving leeches on an open wound.
…the bond of undying love.
...a promise to a child.
Teasel, a form of burr ====> Velcro (credit to @marinelife)
“The hook-and-loop fastener was conceived in 1941 by Swiss engineer, George de Mestral who lived in Commugny, Switzerland.
The idea came to him one day after returning from a hunting trip with his dog in the Alps. He took a close look at the burrs (seeds) of burdock that kept sticking to his clothes and his dog’s fur. He examined them under a microscope, and noted their hundreds of “hooks” that caught on anything with a loop, such as clothing, animal fur, or hair.
He saw the possibility of binding two materials reversibly in a simple fashion if he could figure out how to duplicate the hooks and loops.” Source
Like a shadow on a sunny day.
For the record, My stink on a pig remark had no meaning other than pigs really smell. I wasn’t targeting it towards Christians or any religious group. But I probably offended at least two religious groups and maybe more. I apologize and did not mean any offense.
Milo here: Some of my best friends are pigs.
See how I screwed up? Even the animal kingdom is offended.
^^ Pigs Inc. in Spencertown here; We’re starting a petition (and we know where you live).
“I’ll stick with you like bubblegum in hair”, lol!!
Thank goodness I knew the peanut butter trick when my daughter was small; she got gum in her hair right in the front, just above the hairline!
It stuck to him like wet toilet paper.
The problem with the expression is that there aren’t a lot of “good things” that stick to one faithfully. Oh, I suppose “a loyal dog” is one, and “a shadow” is another, but they don’t really convey the “good feeling” that you’re trying for here.
If you want “bad things”, then it’s easy:
stuck to him like a bad reputation (good ones don’t “stick”)
stuck to her like a flimsy, wet shower curtain in a drafty bathroom
stuck to his shirt like dripping spaghetti sauce
even
stuck like a head on a pike – an image I’ll have to use someday.
Even your own example image of “sins stuck to the soul” isn’t a particularly appealing one.
Maybe you need to rework the metaphor or simile.
It stuck to her like a beautiful perfume, like the smell of grass on a summer’s morning.
I liked the love of a loyal dog, and how about like the love of a good woman?
It stuck to him like words to a page.
It stuck to him like tires to the road.
It stuck to him like hope to the desperate.
Thanks all! Some good ideas. I particularly like the shadow one. Is it a coincidence that @Sunny2 thought of it?
stamp to a letter [old soul song]
tar to a feather?
like a bad reputation?
like a bug on a windshield?
like a tick on a testicle?
like a freckle
like a fingernail
like skin
Like a puppy dawg to your leg.
