the software is actually not free unless u buy a new computer but if u have one without it (a older mac) then it either wont meet the system requirements or it will cost you for iLife

For windows: Virtualdub

For Linux: Cinerella or Open Movie Editor

Wikipedia lists more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_editing_software#Closed-source_freeware

But there really isn’t much out there.

If asf is an absolute requirement, pull down version 1.3c form here:

http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=virtualdub

Virtualdub used to support asf until Microsoft ‘requested’ they drop it (as of version 1.3d). Also, the fork Virtualdub-MPEG2 clams to support asf files.

But like I said, there isn’t much out there, especially for Windows. Most of the Opensource stuff is focusing on Linux these days. You could pull down VMPlayer and a prerolled linux image and then install one of the Linux video editors I mentioned.

I used to editing videos with WMM, and now I do with ShowBiz, it’s as easy as WMM and you can edit videos just by dragging video clips or photos into storyboard. Special effects such as transitions, subtitles and so forth are allowed to add to live up your videos.

For me, it’s like the imovie for pc. You may find how to edit videos here: http://www.arcsoft.com/showbiz/how-to-edit-video.html
