I’m looking for something like imovie where I can create a montage slide show with music for an event. I have a PC, not a Mac, though. What do you recommend?

IrfanView (irfanview.com) is free, easy to use and has a slew of features, including a pretty simple and straightforward way to make slide shows. If I recall correctly (since I haven’t used the slide show feature), I think you can make slide shows that will run either manually or unattended, and in loop mode if you want.
Did I mention that it’s free?
One feature of IrfanView that I have used frequently is its capability to make contact sheets of thumbnails of your photos, which would be good handouts for various presentations.
Thanks @CWOTUS, I’ll check it out. This is for a party for a friend who is having a bar mitzvah. I’m using pictures from when he was a baby up until now.
And I actually don’t mind paying for software if it’s reasonable and it works well.
You know what I just realized? I could use powerpoint.
@ragingloli That’s a good idea, thanks. I forgot about open office.
