Has White Spirit ruined my memory stick?

I have just spilt some white spirit on my memory stick. I have washed it off, though it still smells.
Will I still be able to access it?
I know I could try it myself, but I don’t want to just yet, want to wait until it has dried completely.

Well, wait till it dries completely, then you should be able to get the stuff off of it, but eventually it will fail because of this,so I suggest getting your data off it, and then getting a new memory stick unless you know how to open it up and clean it out properly (can’t be done on memory sticks that don’t have a regular looking body and a seam around the side.)
@XOIIO Ok, thank you for the reply. I don’t think it can be opened, I certainly can’t do it anyway. I have another I can put it on.
I had my memory stick in the washing machine. Still works flawlessly.
@ragingloli Water is a little different to white spirit.
Rinse it off with water as best you can, use a hair dryer on it. then let it sit for a day or two in a non-humid area. As long as you don’t apply power to it before all of the crud is washed off and the water dried there is a good chance it will be just fine. Get your data off though.
Ah makes sense now. Never heard it called that before. I would think letting it dry completely and it should still work.
@Adirondackwannabe I wanted to put turps in the question but wasn’t sure how you guys knew of it.
@Headhurts Turpentine is always what I’ve heard. But this is why fluther is fun. We learn something everyday.
Rice really works to dry out electronics.
