What are your must have apps for your Android device?
I just got a new toy: a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7”, wi-fi). I am enjoying putting the apps I have on my Samsung smartphone on it.
What Android apps can you not live without?
For the record, I do not play games on any of my computers or on my smartphone. I don’t enjoy them.

Small sobbing violin. Free music downloader. Google maps. Fb messenger. Gun noises. Viber.
Most of my frequented applications are for finances, planning, fitness, and websites that I frequent (sans the games that I play regularly.)
- My bank’s application (not that the thing works all the time..)
– Etsy
– Evernote (very useful for taking notes on the go when I don’t have a pen and paper)
– Expense Manager (using this for now, but might try Mint)
– Extreme Fitness Pro Tracker (for tracking P90X
– Field Trip (great for when you go to major cities!)
– Firefox Browser for Android
– Goodreads (I update my progres via my phone)
– Hangouts (for chatting with friends)
– Jorte Calendar (syncs nicely with Google calendar)
– Avast Mobile Security & Antivirus
– My CookBook (really awesome! Lets you use url codes to pull recipes from sites, too.)
– Pinterest
– Pocket (works great in conjunction with Firefox on your laptop / desktop)
– reddit is fun
– Tumblr
– Winamp (syncs with my laptop)
– Yelp
– Zombies, Run!
I think game are also important in many times when you feel alone, or to play something.
But, its ok with it. There are many useful apps in android, which are really important to me & also for all.

For my Nexus 7, which I love, I especially like Nest (for controlling my thermostat wirelessly) and Pyramid Solitaire (for a huge waste of time).
I also like HuffPost, Angry Birds, Soundhound, Dropbox, Skype and This American Life.
Facebook messenger, which I’ve set as my default Sms client, so texts and facebook messages all come from the same place.
I recently download Go launcher, go locker and go toucher. Toucher is my favorite – it’s a little bubble that floats on your screen, and any time you can tap it to quickly change your settings, like screen brightness or Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and access apps without going back to trees home screen.
Alarm clock plus. I like the force math problem before dismiss setting.
My bank app, of course.
Google Currents – their new RSS feed reader.
A popular torrent downloader.
Google sky map – hours of fun for myself and my son.
Imdb. because you never know when you just HAVE to know what other movie that chick was in.
Cam scanner – makes your camera a scanner!
Google translate – the only way I survive shopping in the Asian grocery.
Not very exciting ones:
Santander,
eBay,
MyFitnessPal and
Temple Run
My bank lets me deposit checks with a photo
Stitcher for podcasts
TuneIn for listening to streaming radio stations
RunKeeper for tracking my bike rides
CamScanner for making good-looking copies of documents
Prey for disabling and maybe finding my phone if it’s lost or stolen
KeePassDroid password safe
Dropbox for access to documents on my phone, home PC and work PC
The Guardian is the best news app I have found
SkyView, which identifies the stars you are looking at.
Sound Hound
Angry Birds (yes, it’s an addictive game)
- Dolphin Browser Mini (THE best Android browser! Renders sites correctly that others mess up)
– Alarm Klock (with a K; best app of it’s type that I’ve found)
– ezPDF reader
– HPDroid (an emulator for the HP48G calculator)
– Waze (GPS)
– Meridian Player (great for videos)
– WoT Assistant (check on my World of Tanks stats)
– ES File Explorer (file management and transfer to/from LAN, FTP, and more)
– Scan Master (similar to CamScanner, but I like it better)
– TuneIn
– Battery Circle (great battery gauge)
– eWeather HD
I don’t know what my life would be like without the yelp app
My most-used non-game apps:
The Guardian
BBC News
Wikipedia
Evernote
Seesmic (Facebook & Twitter client)
Sudoku (okay thats a game)
On my tablet I also use Kindle and some graphics apps; Photoshop Touch, Pixlr and Paper Artist
Facebook
Facebook messenger
Google maps
MyFitnessPal
Safari
YouTube
My bank’s app
Discover
The Weather Channel
Fandango
Urbanspoon
IMDB
Sephora
Makeup Alley
Amazon
American Eagle
NextBus (my school’s charter bus app)
Jango
Tetris
Matching with Friends
The Food Network app
Let’s Bowl!!! It is sooo addicting. I have tried other bowling games and they don’t even compare.
Try World Around Me.
It uses your position to tell you what is around – bars, restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores… so you can find something near to you.
I prefer it to Yelp, because I don’t always know where I want to go, I’m cool as long as I don’t have to travel far to get there, and I’m not particularly looking for reviews.
Ok. Ignore everything I said about go launcher. Nova launcher is way better. Also, thanks @jerv For Dolphin browser! Do you have a favorite keyboard app? I want so badly to fall in love with one.
