Good hotel in Rome?

Wondering if anyone has stayed at or knows of a nice hotel in Rome? Also particular restaurants or anything special they would do? I will be traveling on my own. Just made a plane reservation—this is for late September.

You should absolutely go to the top of the Basilica. You can either walk all the way up (stairs) or take an elevator most of the way and walk the rest. You climb through the Michelangelo dome (which is trippy and awesome because it curves in weird ways), and you can walk through the inside of it which is also amazing. On top of that you can see for miles and miles around. I think it was like 3 euro to walk up and maybe 8 for elevator.
