Where do your sleeping cats lie?

@livelaughlove21 asked about sleeping dogs, so to keep us cat lovers from having hurt felines feelings, where do your kitties cuddle?

Forgive me if I answer your question too literally.

My first cat “Mr. Spock” would be 36 years old if he was alive today. His bones lie at rest in a small cardboard box on a shelf in our garage. “Zorro” was killed and eaten by coyotes 4 years ago so his remains lie scat-turd throughout the woods. “Rocky” died last June from cancer and his body lies in peaceful rest buried in our yard. Queen “Sheba” is alive and well and lies about the house where ever she pleases.

Leica may as well be tied to my ankle. She is always near me. She sleeps on my butt. She follows me to the loo, and jumps to get a trickle drink from the sink. She waits for me at the door. She only goes outside when I do, rolling around on the warm concrete porch.

I have a difficult time accommodating her when I travel.

Anywhere they want.

He usually sleeps by my knees between my legs. Lately he’s been sleeping on my chest though. He rarely takes his naps in the room though, for them he’s either in the warm window sill or sleeping on the (covered) pool table with his face resting in the corner pocket :P

Rishy sleeps on the couch or on our bed. He used to sleep on the window seat, but Callie has taken that over. It has also gotten harder for him to get up there as he has aged.

Callie sleeps on the window, on our bed, on the easy chair, in her big box or under the rocking chair.

Cloudy used to sleep all of the places that Callie does now. When Cloudy was a kitten, she tried to sleep on top of my head at bedtime. I had to keep moving her until she finally learned to sleep next to me.

Weezbeff slept anywhere that I was. When she was first getting sick, she liked to sleep on top of things. Boxes, the back of the couch and if I was laying on my stomach, she would sleep on my back.

They alternate sleeping with me and the top tier of their giant cat tree.
Whoever claims the top bunk first relegates the other to my bunk. My huge, 17 lb. male, “Myles” usually gets the top tier and “Mia” my little Siamese cuddles next to me and then wants under the top cover, sandwiched between the blanket and comforter, around 4 a.m. for extra warmth as the nights grow cooler.
Myles is about 3 feet long when all stretched out and sometimes he hogs the foot of the bed, he is like a sandbag, impossible to move. lol

Sy sleeps, randomly, on my computer desk chair, in TV easy chair, on the guest bed, atop (and I mean waaaay atop) my kitchen cabinets, under the bed, behind the drape in my bedroom window, at the foot of the stairs when sunlight hits it, on the sofa, and more than any other place, in my lap when I’m watching TV and on my body pillow or at my feet in my bed. As I write this he’s fast asleep on the carpet in my home-office supply closet.

Awww…I love Sy. He is so damn handsome and kissable. That serious face just begs to be messed with. haha

At night, my male cat usually sleeps on the bed; he likes to cuddle up to the back of my knees. I don’t know where he sleeps if he’s not with me at night, but I miss him! My kitten is too young to have the run of the house so she is closed in a bedroom with bunkbeds and a couch. During the day they lie on the back of that couch, or on my husband’s cushion on his computer chair, and sometimes the male goes up on the top bunk for some peace, away from the ‘wild animal’ kitten. My little tuxedo cat never came home…. I miss her terribly.

Wherever they want, apparently.

Again, anywhere they want, usually on the window sill, but occasionally under the blankets, or in a drawer if it is left open. They each live in one of my bedrooms with their owner, so they rarely have the full run of the house.

Blaze mostly sleeps on an ottoman he’s ripped the supports out from underneath so it sags really badly. Cleo can no longer be reliable with the litterbox so she has regretfully been permanently confined and always sleeps in her chair with her teddybear.

I have 2 very tiny kittens who spend the night in a very large 28×42x31 inch dog cage. It’s got a scratching post, several balls and toys and sometimes when I go to let them out they would rather stay in there and play!

dxs's avatar

Mostly in the middle of the floor. He likes sleeping on cold, hard surfaces the best.

ccrow's avatar

@wildpotato I had a Cleo too!

Coloma's avatar

Okay….just had to put my Myles up in my avatar. AKA..” Monster man.”
Feel free to comment on his extraordinary beauty. He is such a sweetheart. lol

Any place they please evidently.

Right now she is sprawled out on the top of my computer desk and this is after she has been focibly evicted six times this morning for standing in front of the screen. Fortunately the keyboard is on a seperate drawer underneath.

A handsome fellow indeed, @Coloma! He and Sy might get along.

Pachy's avatar

@Mama_Cakes… awwwwwwwww.

Coloma's avatar

@Pachyderm_In_The_Room Cat brothers. haha
Myles is very mellow, he’s a lover not a fighter. :-)

Pachy's avatar

@ccrow, my cat does many of the same things. Aren’t they great!

Pachy's avatar

Who knows, maybe cat brothers-in-law, @Coloma.

Cats rule, dogs drool, and…just to stir the pot, I can’t find the article but I read, recently, on Psychologytoday that cat people tend to be more intelligent, independent and creative and less neurotic than dog people.
I like all animals, but I have no desire to own a dog again. Dogs are just too needy, always panting in your face needing your adoration. I think a lot of dog owners need that adoration too, hence, cats are not good enough at mirroring back to them the adoration they crave.

Dog people please do not beat me to death with a Milkbone. lol

My cat Barnes likes to sleep under one of our endtables. It’s a cube essentially with one side open….he cuddled right in. I put a blanket in there and he loves it. At night he likes to sleep on my face. Otherwise he’s on the couch, or I’m spooning him in bed.
