Can you tell me more about the Freeman groups croping up in Canada and the United States?
I thought it was a twist of the word Freeman when individual slaves were freed in the States 200 years ago. How has the term changed over time? Can one legally opt out of society?

I would say if you wanted to learn more of the Freeman go here. They can give you complete details than I can include in this post; and they can represent themselves better than I.
In a way you can opt out of society, many criminally minded, fugitives, and homeless do. If you can find a way to not have a physical address, or get by with all cash while working as to not have to supply your social security card, you can live as if you don’t exist. If you plan to have a house, job, drive a car, I think it is very hard not to be part of society and subject to its rules and laws.
