Can you play an ordinary DVD in a blu-ray player?

It’s a simple question. Yes, I know I’m late to the game, but please, don’t make fun of me.

Yes most Blu-ray players will play DVD just fine.

You can also play CDs and MP3 discs.

Don’t feel bad, @Hawaii_Jake. Not only did I have no idea of the answer but I’ve never even seen a Blu-Ray player.

Yep, you can. Just don’t put a Blu-ray Disc in a regular DVD player. ;)

Supposedly, it ruins the Blu-Ray Disc. I’ve never felt like wasting twenty bucks to see if it’s true.

Yeah, you can even with the old ones. You’re not going to ruin a blu-ray by trying to play it in a dvd player.
