(NSFW)What is it like to find out you have this?

I do not have HIV…I hope but I am asking this question due to a friend I met once that said that he has HIV. He said that he was very scared at first but he later learnt through therapy that you can have a normal life afterwards. When I think of it, it is really scary to me and to tell the truth I do not know how I would react to such a thing so could you help me out on this?

I think for a while it wouldn’t matter what else I was doing, I’d have in the back of my mind that I needed to find a solution to the problem. It would turn over endlessly in my head, always looping back to the fact that there is no solution right now.

Eventually I’d come to terms with that, realize treatment is quite good, my prospects still call for a long life and more than any of us are guaranteed, and move on. But it would take a while. I would probably look for escapes and temporary reprieves before I dealt with it completely.
