Can someone explain spa treatments to me?

Asked by Seek (34808points) October 11th, 2013

Hi!

I’ve had a couple of massages in my life, but never did any of the girly stuff.

And thinking about it, I’m wondering what they actually consist of.

What is a facial? Paying someone $40 to wash your face?

What does one expect when ordering a pedicure or manicure?

Just some musings from the under-pampered lady. Haha

The best parts are: they massage your feet/ or hands; a facial is a treatment for your skin, they usually massage your face and neck, it’s in a nice room and it feels really good. You walk in and choose the colour of nail polish, they do the rest. It’s great. It’s expensive. Treat yourself. Sometimes they play really interesting music.

Wow. That sounds really overrated. I expected some kind of treatment I can’t do at home.

I don’t really know but I can make up something if no one else gives you any other information.

On a more serious note, I can tell you that my wife had a pedi once (my daughter talked her into it) and that was enough for her. However, my daughter loves them and will get one every couple of months.

Pedicure they wash, massage and put lotion on the whole bottom part of your leg and your whole foot. It feels really good. They soak your feet and your toenails look perfect when they apply the polish (which I can’t get it to look that good myself when I do it at home). Manicure, same thing. Polish and cuticles are perfect and perfectly applied. Facial, you lay there and they massage your face and make critical remarks about your skin haha. I don’t care for facials that much. I found it kind of made me self conscious, having a stranger over me, so close, and touching my face.

I work in a beauty salon and often have a manicure and pedicure, it is nothing you can’t do at home though. I just have them because I get them half price. I wouldn’t pay full price. I have had a Indian head massage before and that is amazing, but again, I’m not sure if I would pay full price.
