Inspired by the recent Halloween film question…
It’s been a while since I came across a new hyper violence flick.
For those wondering, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Sick, twisted story lines woven between scenes of gut wrenching agony. Hella entertaining.
Here’s what I’ve seen, that I can pull off my head;
Oldboy
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance
Lady Vengeance
Ichi the Killer
I Saw the Devil
Battle Royale
Battle Royale 2
That one Korean one with the chick on the island and the scythe… can’t remember the name…
I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting.
Feel free to throw in recommendations for any extreme horror. (did you love Dumplings? My husband couldn’t eat a pot sticker for months without cringing. It was fantastic)

Ok. What is Oldboy about?? My son is always talking about that movie and telling me I really need to watch it.
Guy gets abducted and stuck in one room for 15 years, then inexplicably released. He sets out to find out who did it to him.
@ragingloli – I knew you wouldn’t let me down, love!
The Raid Redemption, is a massively violent Indonesian action movie. There’s tension and urgency from start to finish, and the characters use Silat, the southeast Asian martial art. It’s very, very cool.
Audition! I love Takashi Miike! That’s a great film.
13 Assassins added to the list.
Well my suggestions might work, thing is I’m not entirely sure it’s exactly what you’re looking for. But you can give them a try, it’s worth it for the experience. They’re Japanese movies with ridiculous gore, and a lot of humor. Or at least I think it’s humor. Japanese culture is very interesting, but also confusing.
I just saw Psycho Gothic Lolita (or Gothic & Lolita Psycho) this weekend, it was good. It includes crazy ass villains, blood that looks like spray paint and completely over the top, ridiculous action. But as I say I think it’s supposed to be more funny than anything else…but I loved it. Here are more that I’ve seen in this genre;
Tokoy Gore Police, Yakuza Hunters Final Death Ride Battle and…fuck. Forgot the name of the other. Lol. It’s all pretty much the same kind of stuff though. Also I know you asked for cool stories, but all of these are similar, they’re all revenge stories. But they’re fun movies!
and if you can ever help me to locate the music score for Psycho Gothic Lolita I’ll be eternally grateful.
I’d say Kung Fu Hustle. : )
