Can someone please edit the HTML codes so that when we click on picture links, in the preview page to the right, it opens a whole new tab, rather than replacing the Fluther tab with the picture tab?
I’ll compose the details, inserting pics, and when I click on picture links in the preview pane to the right, before posting the question, it brings the picture up. However, it doesn’t open a new tab, it replaces the Fluther tab. As long as I’m thinking, then I just need to click the back arrow to get back to the question. However, out of habit, and without thinking, I just close the picture out so I don’t have a lot of tabs open….and, then, without warning, I lose my whole freaking question.
Of course, this only happens in questions that I spend some time composing and editing, not short questions I can just retype in a minute. :(
Do something Ben and Andrew! Please!

Good luck with getting any changes made to the site’s HTML. But in the meantime, most browsers will let you right click a link, then select “open link in new tab.” That’s workaround I use.
First, @ETpro is correct that fluther is no longer under development. Second, if someone decides to start developing fluther, please do not implement this change. Just allow us to operate this site like the rest of the internet. I have seen sites use target=“_blank” for links or images, and it drives me crazy. Don’t break the internet.
@Dutchess_III – Hint: CTRL-CLICK is how you click on links you want to open in a new tab. That is how things should work, and that is how they do work.
Also, if you’re using Chrome, you can click a link (not in a new tab), then click back, and your unposted text will still remain.
Thanks you guys. I can remember that.
@tom_g It opens pics in a new tab after the question had posted, so how would that be any different?
If you go into my question, here it opens in a new tab AND the picture links I have in that question open in new tabs. Maybe I didn’t understand your comment “please do not implement this change. Just allow us to operate this site like the rest of the internet. I have seen sites use target=“_blank” for links or images, and it drives me crazy. Don’t break the internet.” Is that, or isn’t that what allows most of the links on Fluther to open in new tabs?
Do you really need to post a bunch of pictures in your questions?
@glacial—Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill. 99% of the time I don’t post pics in my questions. If I do, however, I can lose it even if I only post one picture, if I check it via the preview page on the right and close it out without thinking.
If you right-click the link you get a context menu, just select “Open in new tab” from the dropdown. I never left-click a link anywhere.
