Can you catch me up on the last week in the Flutherverse?

I hope everyone is doing okay!
Here’s what happened this week:
Scary movies were discussed in the spirit of Halloween.
Fluther appreared to be empty for a time.
Talked about places we want to visit based on films/books.
Rishy the cat went through some tough times.
Movies from our birth year were discussed.
We located where constitutions were in our house
We discussed Fluther’s plans for the future (and took a moment to appreciate your hard work).
That’s about all I participated in.

We discussed babies, and DutchessIII has a new addition to her family, classical music, Janbb’s new addition Frodo, LuckyGuy’s nuts, and it was kind of quiet. Sorry for your loss Auggie. I hope everyone is doing okay. Welcome back.

We lost my father-in-law last Monday. It was a rough week, but we’re doing okay now.

@augustlan So sorry for the loss you and your family are feeling. The good news is, in your absence, nothing of any consequence at all happened.

Lots of crap on the government and shutdown but no one changed anyones preconceived notions.
@Seek wants to know what is involved in a facial and whether it is any different from what she can get at home.

Oh, and there was a discussion as to whether or not John Denver was a country singer.
And, finally, it seems that pumpkins are the in avatar now for some reason.

Well, let’s see…here at Mod Central we randomly removed questions based on nothing more than the predominant color in the user’s avatar (blue on Monday, red on Tuesday, etc.); we updated our list of favorite users who are exempt from modding; we put the finishing touches on our atheist/liberal litmus test, specifically the section that specifies how long non-conformists will be publicly pilloried before we gratuitously ban them.

I am excited about the nuts.

I drove across the country non-stop, in a pair of adult diapers, so I could stalk an old astronaut pal of mine.

I was just getting ready to post, “Does he really like me?”, when you returned.

I was carried off to a castle in the Hebrides by a tall, dark stranger who fed me bon bons and drank champagne from my slippers.

I don’t know, @janbb – he looks like a small, fluffy stranger to me. But I could see him drinking champagne from your slippers.

@glacial, if he was a small fluffy stranger, he might be more inclined to drink from her toilet, rather than her slippers. And that’s OK.

@Kardamom @glacial Well, I will say he was nibbling on me when the divorce lawyer called! (She was envious.)

Re: John Denver

If he wrote and sang a song titled “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” in which he extols the joys of having a “fine wife and a fiddle” and “when the sun’s comin’ up I got cakes on the griddle”, I should think the answer would be obvious :D

@Buttonstc Actually, Denver didn’t write that song, he covered it. He also covered Let it Be, Fire and Rain, and City of New Orleans, among other famous pop and folk songs. He did write Leaving on a Jet Plane, which was rather famously covered by Peter, Paul and Mary… folk again. His folk roots are deep, and singing the occasional country song shouldn’t bump him into that category.
