Now the Question:
Is there some cultural imperative that Japanese women always play the role of submissive victim? I had noticed it in Japanese heterosexual porn. Their sex sounds are quite different from those of western women, Africans or even other Asians. Instead of moans and heavy breathing, they whimper and sometimes even sound as if they are crying or being hurt.
I thought maybe it was intended to make Japanese men feel powerful, providing them some sort of thrill of victory and dominance. Maybe it was intended to let the guy imagine his penis was monstrous and too much for her. But then I noticed that it seems true even in lesbian petting videos where there is clearly no pain involved. The girl playing the more submissive role whimpers instead of moaning her pleasure; while the aggressor just breathes heavily. This was interesting, so I decided to see how Japanese females are portrayed in porn when they are doing it to themselves. The do the same whimpering when masturbating. Any thoughts as to why?

Might have to do with the “childlike innocence” thing that is expected from japanese women, going so far that mature women act childish and the makeup is more designed to look cute, as opposed to the western taste, which is the exact opposite.
So taking that into consideration, the expecation might simply be that they are either not supposed to look like they enjoy it, or are supposed to look/sound overwhelmed by the experience, or a combination of the two.
Either way, I do not like the way that japanese live action porn sounds, hentai is a lot better in that regard (though the excessive amount of talking and internal monologue during the action becomes kind of hilarious after a while).
I don’t care for Asian porn for just this reason. That and the BDSM stuff is creepily rapey.

Cultural. Power play. I don’t think the Japanese princess can stand side by side with the prince to this day. But the Japanese porn industry does it because it sells. If it doesn’t, I have no doubt they will switch to dominating women in porn.

The Japanese people have a word for anyone who is not Japanese: Gaijin. Prior to WW2, from anything I have ever read, they considered themselves the dominant species of human life on the planet. It was patently obvious to them that their men were the most powerful on the planet. They had, as a society, formed a sort of a cult of the warrior.
Then the suffered constant defeat for 2 years, from 1943 on. Any other culture might of sued for peace. This warrior cult of powerful men made plans to have a horrific honorable last stand. Then with two Atomic bombs, it dawned on them that they would be denied an honorable manly last stand.
My father told me the strangest stories of visiting Japan in the 50’s, and men would lower their heads and yield the sidewalks to him if he was in uniform. The men would just step in the street, submissively until he passed.
I am not surprised at all that their porn emphasizes the potency of their manhood, and their dominant women folk.

I disagree with the activist that decry Truman’s use of the nuclear bombs in Japan. They saved many lives on both sides. A city by city firefight to pacify Japan with ground forces would have required killing much of the adult population of Japan, because they would not have surrendered. Bushido required death at the hands of the enemy before surrender.
