Would you join me in a welcoming luau?
Friday night pau hana time! (That’s Hawaiian for work is over.)
Aloha to all our new and not-so-new jellies.
Here is some music to get us started.
No luau would be complete without hula and this one is a particular favorite of mine. ;-)
We have grinds too. Here in the islands, we call food grinds.
When the hula is over, here is a beautiful chant.
OK, new and old jelly friends, what can you add?

Flower and Ti leaf leis for all.
I’m in the mood for some tropical drinks… Malibu Bay Breezes and Bahama Mamas to all those wishing to join me!
@Hawaii_Jake Two back to back mornings with temps below freezing. Ice on the windshield, I think a luau sounds amazing. Where do I get my grass skirt?
Listening to the first song…niiiiiiiiice….
@Hawaii_Jake I like very much, but she wears it way better than I could.
@Hawaii_Jake That second video, the hula was just beautiful.
They all look delicious! I’ll have one of each for starters! Thanks Jake.
Oooh, I want the sparklely blue one, probably enough rum to make you dumb, for hours. lol
I want a pu pu platter and a drink with an umbrella in it.
Is Don Ho still alive?
Why yes, @Hawaii_Jake, and thank you. Here it is another Friday night and I’m definitely in the mood for a good lei.
@Coloma That’s not enough numbers. But if somebody doesn’t already have 1–900-GET-LEID that’s a no-brainer to buy. You call in and your Phone Bill gets dinged for $99.99 including shipping and handling on a $1.99 plastic lei. In the package, there’s a charming note that says, “You have just been royally screwed by 1–900-GET-LEID.”
I’ll wait until my friend moves there, and then come join the party…
I would bring pineapples and coconuts but there are some in the trees above us.
If only I could visit a tropical place then I would know.
I’ll bring table decorations of sweet smelling plumeria blossoms and chonch shells.
Man, finally Friday. This week sucked ass. But I watched Wayne’s World today, that movie always cheers me up. Haha, party on yall. :D
I would have brought peanuts if I’d seen the invitation yesterday.
True story. When I was about 18 a friend and I made a rum concoction in the blender using yellow plums from a tree in her yard with sugar and about a quart of Bacardi. OMG!
We were sick and had the runs for days. I swore off rum and have never put a drop to my lips again in 35 years now.
Gag!
Oh, and to top it off, we fed her dog our leftover vegetarian burritos and forgot to put him out that night.
Woke up to about 20 piles of dog diarrhea, crawling around with towels pressed to our faces, wretching, while scrubbing the dog shit off her parents off white carpet.
Good times! lol
Come on in! The Water is fine!
Just watch out for the humuhumunukunukuapua’as.
Welcome Folks!
I am late to the party! I guess I’ll have to eat all this warm, buttery Brie myself.
@LuckyGuy Oh no you don’t! I’m here, and we are sharing that.
Welcome, AVers, I hope you feel at home soon!
@longgone Absolutely! I brought enough to share. Is there any wine around?
Chili isn’t exactly Hawaiian, but I’m bringing some anyway. My husband made a delicious batch! Welcome, new jellies.
I have Cherry pie now. :-)
Ube Ice Cream for all! Or in your place, Taro ice cream!
@Kardamom…your answer brought a smile to my face. I have a friend who is moving to Hawaii, and who currently owns some tropical fish. He was just telling me a few weeks ago the name of the trigger fish in Hawaiian, and I’ve been trying to learn to say it. Than I came back to this thread to read a new entry, and your response caught my eye.
