Lou Reed was a rock star.
Whether you’ve heard of him or not, the present-day music you listen to has been influenced by him.
A great, sad loss, and one more reminder that contrary to what we Boomers and pre-Boomers believed in our youth, we are mortal.
R.I.P., Lou.
Aww man ! Lou Reed gone !? I can only add my regrets to this post at his passing . I was always a fan of his and grew up listening to his music .
RIP Mr. Lou Reed
Great Musician. Rest in peace.
Take a walk on the wild side and you’ll meet him.
Your topics are presumptuous. Just because you’ve never heard of him doesn’t mean no one has.
I think he was the bassist for the stooges
@syz, I don’t fault @ragingloli for not knowing who Lou Reed was. Wide variety of ages and nationalities on this site. I’m almost as old as Lou was and don’t have any idea who the current hot bands are.
Very sad indeed. My son is a huge Lou Reed fan. He’s pretty bummed out.
He was a poet, musician, and indie-rock star who didn’t care about creating hit songs.
Who else could intro his backup singers, without the slightest hint of hatred, as, “And the colored girls go doo do doo do doo do do doo…”? Backup singers were so often African American women, very talented yet relegated to that role, and Lou pointed out the institutional racism by calling them “colored.”
So sad. I heard about this last night.
