Does any one understand anything about dreams?

Asked by antimatter (4429points) October 27th, 2013

Here is the weird thing in the past eight months I had almost the same dream about six times.
It’s something like I am in a big modern open plan house with glass walls and there is a beautiful woman who never shows me her face.
We always sit and look what’s going on on the outside but never go out.
What do you think does this recurring dream mean?

The question is, what does it mean to you? Everything in your dream comes from inside you.

I pay attention to my dreams and think of them as a window into my unconscious mind. But they tell me only what they tell me. Often they alert me to feelings and concerns that I haven’t yet recognized in my conscious life. It’s seldom literal and clear-cut.

Your dream seems resonant with symbolism to me, but maybe that’s because I’ve just been reading Joseph Campbell. If you have a therapist, you could discuss it with him or her. But there is no way for us to know.

I once read that everyone we dream about is actually us, disguised. At any rate, your dream is “talking” to you about something that is happening, or has happened, in your waking life. Either that or, to quote E. Scrooge, it’s ”...an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of underdone potato.”

Really you need to think about what it might represent in your own life.

Your dream suggests to me that there are things you observe in your life that you want but you find them unattainable, or would never think of pursuing.

But, that is how I interpret it, and my interpretation doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

I have noticed that people are often very bad at interpreting their own dreams. An outside observer is much better at making connections between dreams and waking life. In your case as I know nothing of your circumstances I can’t say what your dream signifies. But repeated dreams have a significance I am sure.

Sometimes dreams really mean nothing and are just pictures your mind puts together from things you have seen. But a lot of the time they go hand in hand with emotions. To me it sounds like there may be some pent up frustration, since you know the girl is beautiful but can never see her face and you are always stuck inside. I’m obviously no expert though, so really you have to look at whats going on in your life and go from there.

In dream symbolism, staring out of a window represents Death.

You want to be successful in life and you want a beautiful wife that you haven’t met yet. You are aware that you don’t get out and mingle much.

I think she is your dream girl.

From what I have read dreaming about a glass house represents that an abundance of compliments will harm you.Don’t fall for flattery. Alternatively it also suggests that you are being watched.“Dreams relating to a house often refers to various aspects of the Self”:

Recurring dreams usually mean there is something in your life you’ve not acknowledged that is causing stress of some sort. The dream repeats because you have not corrected the problem.

It is up to you to figure out the symbolism of this repeating dream (every person who dreams has to realize that that their dream symbolism is specific to them). Since you have dreamed this dream several times, it does tend to reflect that you have a situation going on in your mind. What that situation is, will be up to you to figure out. Is the attractive woman in your dream(s) around your age? What kind of conversation(s) do you have with her? When you look thru the glass walls of the house, what does the exterior look like? Is the sun shinning? Is it over-cast? All of these things will make a different explanation of these dream(s).

The woman is you. However, you cannot see your real face, or the truth about yourself. You can see the world, but you will not find her face in it. You are looking in the wrong place. To see her, you must cease looking out the windows and begin to direct your focus inward.

To see the real you, you must turn your back on the windows and sit in front of her. She has always been right where you are. The windows do you no good. The answers aren’t out there. They’re in here.

I did a little bit more research about dreams and @Skylight I think you may have a good point.
@Valerie111 I do have unfinished business and I am working towards my goal to finish my business.
